Moussa Dembele - AZ

PSV TRIED TO GET DEMBELE
PSV has tried to get Moussa Dembele. AZ refused to co-operate with a transfer, which means PSV can start their search for an additional striker.

A few weeks ago, when Farfan signed for Schalke, PSV director Jan Reker announced PSV wouldn't get a replacement for Farfan but it seems he changed his mind now. The PSV strike force is quite unexperienced bar from Lazovic and Koevermans. PSV showed their interest in Moussa Dembele as an additional striker, but AZ don't want to let Dembele already go. None of the key players can leave AZ in order to build a successful team again.

"Only the big clubs can get him"
The performances of Moussa Dembele in the game against the Italian Olympic squad are resulting in transfer rumours. AZ isn't planning to let Dembele go easely.

AZ, the current team of Moussa Dembele, is following the performances of the Belgian Olympic team quite close.

"As technical director of AZ, I hoped the Belgian AZ players (Pocognoli, Martens & Dembele) would return quite soon to Holland. But on the other side, I grant them their success", Marcel Brandts tells Het Belang van Limburg.

About the transfer rumours around Moussa Dembele Brandts reacted: "Moussa still has a contract 'till 2011, and he's one of the players we don't want to sell. I hope he stays though, but you never know. Don't forget we can ask a good price for him. I think only the absolute top teams will be able to buy him."

That are things he'll need to work on, before he makes the step to a bigger club/competition. He could be a great Premiership striker, but if he already moves over there NOW ... well, he'll be nothing more than bench material.
I disagree. First of all, when you're 20 years old and playing for a (top)team like AZ wants to be, you're not supposed to be a leader, nor it would be fair from AZ t demands such a thing from Dembele. Leadership is something you achieve through experience, and often takes many many years. And where do you get the necessary experience? Right, by going to a bigger league..
I definitely think Dembele is ready for a bigger league, but not a big club like ManU/Barça/Inter or whatever. He should go to a team like Villarreal/Fiorentina/West Ham.. re: playing in a big league on a team which is good in developing talent and showcasing them for the bigger clubs. Dembele already has enough maturity and strength to handle a bigger league, and yes there certainly are things which he must improve in (I don't know about scoring, I don't think he'll ever be a great goalscorer), but I for one would like to see him do that in a big league.

Scotty doesn't know.

All that nagging about his lack of goalscoring capacities. I mean, he has enough other qualities, doesn't he ? He isn't the kind of player who waits his moment to come and score a goal. He's the one making the actions.

At the Olympic team, and even most of the time at AZ, he isn't even used as a real striker ...

He's widely regarded as the best Belgian prospect at the moment. Most people expect him to end up with an European topclub; so yeah I would say we rate him pretty high :smileani:

He wouldn't be a prospect anymore if he stepped up when AZ was shite last season, instead of sinking with the rest of the team

No , that means he was just shite back then. He has to show up every game now exactly because he has reached an age where he can't hide behind being a 'prospect' anymore. If he doesn't score 10 goals or more this season, it's unlikely he ever will. This season will make or break him, but a 'prospect'? No, he's not anymore.

Knowing Martens did quite bad at the Olympics, and was on the bench for several weeks for AZ, it is quite normal he isn't called up
