I visited Standaard Wetteren - Eendracht Aalst today, and the only thing worth telling is that teams shouldn't play on offside when they are clearly not capable of doing it :rollani:

Shite performance, shite referee, shite result

How many Aalst fans were there? It surprises me a stadium like Wetteren's can cope with the normal number of Aalst fans, unless they restricted the number of tickets sold to the visitors...

PS: VG Oostende lost 8-2

Wetteren has better facilities then Tubize

I guess between 1000 and 1200

There were almost no Wetteren fans

That's a bit exagerated I'd say. Wetteren has a tiny cosy stadium and a clean one, it's neat. But it would be good for maximum D3, once they'd promote expansion is needed. But well, Tubize's is also a D2 maximum case.

And little surprise Wetteren had little fans, they never had a strong support. Which is logical. Wetteren is a small city of 25000 people more or less, and it is squeezed between Gent and Aalst who both have a strong fanbase already. Add to that the number of Anderlecht and Club Brugge fans who live in the area... So with RSCA, Club, Gent and Aalst all having a strong fanbase in the area, little is left for Standaard Wetteren.

Heck, even KVO has fans in Wetteren (exactly 7 or 8 to be precise, all guys from the coast who now work in Gent and Brussels and live in the Wetteren area ; the KVO fan bus driving to away games picks those fans up in Wetteren )

I've seen provencialers with better accomodation than Tubize

Tubize is a D3 maximum case. One decent stand doesn't change that.

Good to see this topic again .

To start questioning immediately, RFC Liege are gone in 3B, is RC Mechelen a decent replacement according to attendance numbers, also in away games?

RC Mechelen have a die-hard support of not much below 1000 fans and they are very vocally present so you can definitely see them as a very large fanbase for D3 norms. And unlike Liege, they have a beautiful stadium with an amazing main stand, this stadium belongs in D1 in fact.

But... both Mechelen teams share one illness: hooliganism. While the majority of fans of both Racing and KV are great and loyal fans, both clubs have a minority of scumbags who cause trouble everywhere they come. Racings hooligan problem is even bigger than the one of KV who have taken better measures to control their issues. So Racing Mechelen is a great day out when it comes to stadium and atmosphere, but unfortunately you will see a minority of idiots who should be banned from football stadiums... In that aspect, Liege is a much nicer club as they have no specific hooligan issue.

Also note that in D3 a few other clubs have a nice fanbase: Aalst (who also have a little hooligan problem but the majority of fans are very loyal and nice, and they have an incredible amount of fans for D3 standards), Union St Gilles, Rupel Boom (great stadium and a very nice set of fans), and to lesser extent La Louviere (not the nicest stadium but their fans are very friendly or at least they always where when KVO travelled there)

Cheers!

For example, I'm doubting to visit Boom-RC Mechelen next week, can I expect some Mechelen fans to be there?

At least more than the other teams in the division will bring?

Yes there will be a lot of Racing fans, but there are likely to be security problems. Rupel Boom has one of the best stadiums and largest fanbases in division 3 though, they are a really nice club But there will likely be problems with the Mechelen fans, they often cause havoc and certainly against teams who have many fans themselves the chances are big that it will attract a type of fans from Mechelen who just come to cause problems.

Oilsjt were ridiculously bad at Zaventem, what a horrible performance

Things need to change, and by that I do not mean only a change of staff

You took 4A instead of 3A .

RC Mechelen are no title contenders this season? If they are they missed their start completely...

So Aalst went from 3 points in 3 games, to 7 points in 4 games?

Scotty doesn't know.

Obviously a typo, they have 6 points.

In that division, with maybe the exception of Zottegem (and even that is a close call), none of the top5 would be able to get a license for second division. Peruwelz, Wetteren, Diegem and Woluwe-Zaventem have a stadium which is neat for D3 but unsuitable for D2 (even though the Diegem stadium is quite nice with that castle right behind it, it may be nice but needs upgrading before it can host D2 games)

I hate to see Union down there. A club with such a nice stadium and history should play D2 instead of being in the bottom of D3

Union - Aalst ... Clubs with such a tradition should not be in D3, they belong in at least D2. Aalst seems to recover from a bad start, but it is painful to see a great club like Union struggle so badly.

I am glad Rupel Boom is doing well. Great stadium, and great fans. There used to be a friendship tie between Boom and KVO. Although this has faded, I personally still have friends in Boom with whom I email, and back when i lived in Belgium I went to Rupel Boom games a few times per season. I wish them well and hopefully they can get to D2 soon.
