Such a pity.

Of course I understand the reasons but what's better to host a big club? In Germany the low playing teams who've drawn a big side just moved to a bigger stadium close to their home.

For example why didn't Kelmis play in Verviers?

I'll probably visit Willebroek-Brussels btw, best one left on the Sunday I think.

Such small teams probably don't have enough volunteers to host such big clubs (and big attendances) ...

I think it should be forbidden by rules to sell home advantage. If your own stadium is not meeting criteria, a neutral ground close to the home team's location is a better solution IMO. Indeed here in Germany clubs would play on neutral ground close to the home team's regular stadium, which at least does not really benefit the away team in the same extent as getting the game as a home game.

PS: Leopold Uccle had also sold its home advantage to Aalst so it does not necessarily have to end up in also selling your chances to proceed. Although from what I heard and read Aalst was very unlucky and Uccle got their win by scoring at almost 100% while Aalst missed a lot of chances.

They're apparently still facing a lot of injuries, so guess this is a bit of an excuse. Last season they were newly promoted and made the semi finals of the playoffs despite the same injury issues, so guess for a newcomer in D3 this was a success. I think Aalst are favourites to promote this season, maybe the elimination by Uccle is not such a bad thing because this means Aalst can focus entirely on the league. That one or two games with media exposure are not worth the risk of injuries when your selection is already facing serious such issues.

Liege and Antwerp

Not that I like Antwerp that much, but for example a quarter-final at the Bosuil versus a Jupiler-League club would be a great experience...

Also Liege are out already, too bad...

Yesterday it was fun in Willebroek, after Brussels scored 0-1 some minutes into the second half, Willebroek equalised and there was hope, but some minutes later a ball was cleared off, or probably after the line because the ref gave a goal, 1-2... A lot of protests from Willebroek, but the ref didn't change, wonder whether it was a real goal or not... after that moment Willebroek broke and Brussels scored 1-3.

Cool stadium btw!

KVO won 5-0 versus Diksmuide.

Pleased overall: rather than a very far away trip to play an obscure D3 club like last season, we played at home versus a team from not far away, bit of a derby even. Much nicer for the fans. KVO created lot of chances and could have been 7-0 or 8-0. Guess our strikers are really promising this season as we scored 8 goals in 2 games (even when it is against Diksmuide only, you still need to score them)

The only thing worrying me is the defense. Against Tournai we proved to be very vulnerable. Diksmuide is not the team that will bring us in trouble, but teams like STVV, Antwerp, Lierse, etc will torture our defense. We do easily score goals but the defense needs improvement.

Anyway, our next game is against Londerzeel at home. If we win this one, a D1 team awaits and also that game will be played in Oostende. And as our stadium has been modernised and is up to D1 standards, I cannot see us consider selling home advantage in any possible way.

Says so on www.kvo.be so if it is on the official site then I didn't really question it. Thought the rules may have been changed to award home advantage to the lower division team or so.

But well, maybe I should be questioning our sources more, our site is not the most professionally run amongst D2 clubs. It is still using a rather old HTML code type and the webteam are all guys who do it in their spare time after day job and family duties.

As far as I know the rules haven't changed. The only thing what is sure is that KVO gets a D1 team.

Now you just need a ticketing service and a cafeteria that actually has enough alcohol 'till the end of the game :rollani:

KV Oostende - KSK Londerzeel: 2-1

Not a lot of shining glitter, but the result is what matters. So we reach the first big round, hopefully we either get a relatively easy duty (I would hope for Mons, Roeselare or Dender for example) or a big gun. The cup is uninteresting for a 2nd division team unless you either get far or attract a big club with a big financial gain. Losing narrowly against Lokeren, Charleroi or Westerlo is just a total waste of time. So I either hope for an opponent that brings in lot of cash (RSCA, Club, Standard or Genk) or an opponent that we should be able to beat (Dender, Mons, Roeselare).

Well, ideally, bring on Roeselare. They are a sinking ship or so it seems and I think we can beat them. But because it is a derby with a rather harsh rivalry between the two sets of fans, it would also bring a decent crowd to the stadium. So ideally we get them, and then a big club in the next round. And a home game please!
