Jupiler League 2006 / 2007: The tension rises !

With only 6 games to go Anderlecht took over the lead in this years competition after the defeat of RC Genk at Beerschot. If Anderlecht want to extend their title they'll surely have to play better against the smaller teams in the league. Meanwhile, RC Genk was top of the table during 23 weeks !

League Table:

Schedule RSC Anderlecht:
13/04/2006 Cercle Brugge - RSC Anderlecht
22/04/2006 RSC Anderlecht - KAA Gent
29/04/2006 KSV Roeselare - RSC Anderlecht
06/05/2006 RSC Anderlecht - SK Beveren
12/05/2006 RSC Anderlecht - FC Brussels
19/05/2006 RAEC Mons - RSC Anderlecht

Schedule RC Genk:
14/04/2006 RC Genk - KVC Westerlo
22/04/2006 Club Brugge - RC Genk
29/04/2006 RC Genk - Exc. Moeskroen
04/05/2006 Sp. Lokeren - RC Genk
12/05/2006 RC Genk - Sp. Charleroi
19/05/2006 FC Brussels - RC Genk

I'm very curious how this will turn out. If Anderlecht can win against Gent and Roeselare I'm preety sure that they'll become champions (again )

Pretty easy schedule for both... personally I feel something for Standard, but they'll never edge it anymore so then I should root for Genk I think, Anderlecht got enough titles .

If Anderlecht becomes champions this year, it will be possible to get number 30 when they become 100 years old next year. Would be nice I think

Anderlecht has the easiest schedule I think. Maybe Gent and Roeselare, who are strong at home, can cause us problems. On the other hand I can't see Genk winning at Brugge and also Charleroi is a nasty opponent

Well 29 would be nice too p

Brugge in this form? Think anyone can beat them at the moment, Charleroi are good indeed but normally Genk should beat them at home. It's true Anderlecht got an easier schedule than Genk but also Genk's one isn't too difficult. Depends most of all on form I think and in that case Anderlecht is slightly advantaged I think at the moment, but things can still turn around in six matches.

The games of yesterday were ALL absolute tripe... I got vomiting tendencies just watching the recap reports... Does no one actually want to make his team play nice football? It doesn't matter either since Belgian teams suck anyway in Europe... TBH a team like Anderlecht or Brugge needs a foreign coach: someone who brings other impulses to the game, Belgium Football could pull a mini-epl that way and become bigger again.

The games un here are usually just rubbish. Many teams think about defending first instead of just playing for the 3 points.

About the foreign coaches: that's what most of the Anderlecht fans want. A Dutch or French coach who like to attack, and who pays attention to the kind of football the team brings.

It'll be a big day tomorrow when Anderlecht faces Gent while Genk have to travel to Club Brugge. With some luck we take a serious option on the championship title tomorrow

Both Genk and Anderlecht won their game with the narrowest of differences. Anderlecht won 1-0 against AA Gent after a very weak game (again). Was this again a game on Bundesliga-level?

Genk won the very difficult away game in Bruges with 0-1 after a cracker from Ljubojevic, although "Belgium's number 1" Stijnen looked very ridiculous there. A draw would perhaps have been a fairer result, but if you can't score, you can't win ...

This very important away victory will surely give our boys a moral boost. Hopefully Anderlecht will drop some points here and there, so that the only team that truely deserves to be the champions indeed will take the championship.

If you look on the playing level of both teams Genk would deserve to win the championship. But after all the points count. And we still have 2, actually 1, more then Genk.

Tonight Genk faces Lokeren at Daknam. Even Lokeren has done bad this season they've took points against the big ones. They won against Standard and Brugge and drew against Anderlecht at home. I'm quite curious for this game tonight.

Anderlecht face Beveren at home on sunday. Should be an easy win
