i'm currently writing a case study for my degree in economics and as luck would have it, my teacher let me go with a topic concerning footie!
it basically deals with the financial strengths of european leagues, being subdivided into the "major 5 leagues" and some smaller ones. since i can't manage to get representative numbers out of the scandinavian countries or portugal (apparently contracts vary heavily within clubs) i was wondering if you could maybe give me some sort of hint regarding the jupiler league.
as far as i know there are 4 major players in belgium (anderlecht, genk, liege, brugge) and quite a bunch of "lower-rated" clubs.
the bigger ones have signed some good guys, e.g. balaban, mpenza, frutos, daerden or sa pinto, so their financials can't be that much of a chaos i guess.
considering these clubs, i guess an average salary could be at around 300.000 to 500.000.
i'm actually focussing on the big clubs because i don't wanna go into details that much (it's been a hassle writing about the lower-rated clubs in england already, so i'll stick with the top this time :smileani: ).
so can someone maybe tell me if i'm completely wrong saying that the average salary at brugge e.g. is at around 300.000 to 500.000?
and does someone maybe have numbers or facts to verify this?
thanx very much in advance,
