Lower leagues 2006-2007

Time to dig up this old thread? Who do you think will rise to 1st division this year?

Big favorites for me are:

- FCV Dender
- OH Leuven
- KV Mechelen
- KV Kortrijk

You can't really say who is the absolute favourite this year I think, so I hope that KV Mechelen will return

I do also hope for a championship of Eendracht Aalst, in the 4th division

For me, I would like KV Mechelen, and perhaps Eupen may have a chance. I think Antwerp may sneak in but doubt it. They usually blow it by mid season.

I already thought a team was missing.

I can't judge the new team yet since I haven't seen them play yet. But I will be attending the game against Tubize next weekend. Will be the first I'll get my eyes on them. I believe Izgi, Farssi, Hilton and Tanghe are good signings and also Manunians Campbell and Evans seem highly rated.

I'm quite confident we'll be challenging for the title this season.
I reckon our toughest oppenent will probably be KV Mechelen (great signings) and KVK united as dangerous outsider.
KV Kortrijk is a counter-team and FC Dender just has too few quality to keep their current form up.

Com'on Iendracht !

Eendracht Aalst started very well their season in the 4th division. After a 1-4 win at Temse, they won this weekend the derby against Lebeke-Aalst with 4-0.

We're coming back

I want KV Mechelen and Antwerp to go up, just for old times' sake

I also have strong sympathy for Oostende, my 2nd home, although their outfits are usually horrible

As much as I understand and respect that point of view, it's just not what Belgian football needs imo. First division now needs genuine independent pro teams with a clear, conscious policy at the top of the club over a longer period of time. One of the few teams that comes close to achieving that goal is Oud-Heverlee Leuven. I cannot say wether Mechelen does right now, but Antwerp, I'm very sorry, imo does not do give that impression.

Sorry I completely disagree, one thing for starters with the exception of Antwerp and KV Mechelen there aren't any Pro-teams in 2de klasse. All those teams are semi-profesional and are playing with players who only have a part-time contract.

Second, dont let the recent succes of Zulte Waregem and Roeselare throw sand in your eyes. FC Dender, Virton, Tubize (have you ever seen their stadium?) and even OHL can economically never survive in 1ste klasse. They dont have the attendances, budget, players or geographical potential. They'll probably stay up for 1 or 2 seasons and eventually go bankrupt like Heusden Zolder. Promote these teams to 1ste klasse and than you'll really have a joke.

I think KV Mechelen has done some excellent transfers and I am really satisfied with the recent developments at Antwerp the past months/days/hours.

I also have a lot of sympathy for KV Oostende, especially since a few Dutch players are in their squad (This season Lionel Lord and Robin Muller van Moppes, last year Remco Heerkens). Hopefully they can get in the play-offs at the end of the season

Wasn't Robin Muller van Moppes one of the bigger talents a few years ago in the Ajax youth squad?? Strange how careers can go....

He was a big talent a few years ago indeed, but he's very small and fysically not a very strong player. That's why he didn't make it out there, let's hope he'll get back on track at KVO, maybe we'll see him on the highest level in a few seasons.

Dessel Sport - KV Oostende 1-2

KVO beat the undefeated leader! 2 goals from Guy Bates (former Newcastle United youth, Newcastle United Jets FC (Australia) and Darlington) secured the 3 points.
