Official Armenia - Belgium 06.09.2006 Thread

The Belgian selection:

http://www.footbel.com/nl/nationale_.../selectie.html

What a ****ing joke : no Caluw , although he's the only Belgian that scores, no Soetaers or Chatelle who are by far the best attacking options in midfield at this time, no Blondel who could play a crucial part in midfield IMO in a Xavi like role but a little more defensive.

And Englebert: HA!

I have this gut feeling , VDE should start to think about pissing off to some other job.

geez, im tired of Goor. This guy needs to retire. and you know whats sad? look at the last scored section. Hoefkens scored last and it was back in May. We might want to get some real goal scorers when we are playing these teams, not sit back and hope for the best. geez.

Ill say 2-1 for us, what do you guys think???
And all of Belgium with you. I don't know much about your NT but TBH I don't think our selection is capable of scoring, so I predict a scoreline:

X-0 where X e {0,1,2,3}

Terrible, just terrible.
But dont look at me, I wanted Wilmots to coach the national team.

Dont know which call-up frightens me the most:
Englebert who's been playing like a wet sock for almost 3 years now, Lombaerts who's a player from team in-form AA Gent or Pieter Collen who keeps falling through the basket time after time. After last game you would've hoped VDE would've gone for creativity and call-up Blondel. But indeed who needs him when you've got Goor running the midfield.

"I never knew my birth parents. There was a car accident. my birth mother was incinerated, and I only survived because her smoking carcass had formed a protective cocoon of slaughtered human effluence. A Belgian man and his fifteen year-old love slave were looting the accident scene, came across a blood soaked baby, moi, and they raised me to be evil."

Couldn't agree more. Goor is such a cancer to each team he plays in. He slows the game down, doesnt cross and hasn't been near the goal these last 2 years.

If Vandereycken plays 352, a good Englebert has his place in the selection, certainly in this one. Having said that, he shouldn't necessarily be a starter.

Gent a team in good form? That's not what the recent results say.:undecide: Which brings me to Collen. With Feyenoords current form and taking his own theory about match rythm, Cronelis or even De Fauw would have more of a place in this selection than Collen.

I think u guys have some good attackers. With Moussa Dembele on the left side, buffel and also huysegems. I also saw a lot of names that i never heard of it, but good luck. I predict a 1 - 1 draw.

I predict 2-0 for Belgium.

Our NT is nowhere near top form. We just got a new coach and he's just going to use these qualifications as a trial/experimentation.

If we get our best players playing, we might cause an upset, but we're far from being a strong team.

We have played twice for the 96 Euro qualifications. Belgium has won twice. This was during the Enzo Scifo days.

Things have changed, Belgium doesn't know how to score and with this selection that is not going to change.

I can't see what Englebert has done except for being average amongst other average players to justify a selection let alone a starter's spot.

That's the underestimation Englebert will always get. He's not my personal favourite either, but with his recuperation and infiltration skills, he can be of use to any Belgian team. Certainly in a central midfield in 352 together with Simons and a playmaker, preferably one with scoring abilities.
