Belgium - Saudiarabia

I dont know anything about your footballers and i wonder what you all think about this game?

How does the squad look like? Injuries? Debutantes?

Personally I see it as a game to take revenche on SA for the game 12 years ago on the World Cup

Belgium will propably start with:

Stijnen

Collen - Vermaelen - Lonard

Vd.Borre - Geraerts - Simons
Defour - Goor

Caluw - Vandenbergh

Stijnen, Collen, Defour and Caluw are debutants. We've got another 5 debutants on the bench.

We miss some players (like Sonck for exemple) due to the fact that they still have to play with their own club.

Belgium is lining up a B-team

A lot of our key-players still have to play for their club or are injured (Van Buyten, Sonck, Kompany, Proto, Mbo and Emile Mpenza...) and since Belgium didn't qualify for the coming WC our new coach has decided to use this friendly to test or get to know some new players. Like Tom said; 4 players in the line-up will be playing their first cap and the others - with exception of Goor and Simons - are ussually not starters.

Nevertheless hopefully we'll get to see an entertaing/interesting game.

Tnx for the replies, i was about to bet on this game, but somehow new Belgium wouldnt have their best team. With a lot of debutantes this game is to risky...

Good luck.....hope you guys win...

I wouldn't call Van Buyten a key player for Belgium. Unless of course you mean he's the key that opens the door for the opposition to score.

Luc Nilis story ... Hero in the country he plays in, zero in Belgium ...

there were some good points though... I liked the way the debutants performed.. Caluwe scored a great goal, De Decker looked good and so on...

Also, Anthony Vanden Borre showed some good things...if he would simplify his game, he would be lots better though

Key players, my ass... in my book you are only a key player if you perform on key moments

Stijnen, VD Borre, Geraerts and Vermaelen played very well and Buffel came in very sharp. That is all I will remember from this game. Belgium was ok. Good a some moments, sloppy passing at other. Saudi-Arabia was shockingly weak. In the first 25 and last 20 minutes of the game they were nowhere. Only one of their strikers (El-Qatani?) looked somewhat decent.

They'll better shape up before or they'll be the laughing stock of the tournemant.
