me neither, but the advantage is there's a lot of good teams in this group, so they will take points from each other

I'm not too optimistic either my friend.

It could have been worse admittedly, this is always better than Group B or E for example. Nevertheless, damn

What's Kazachstan doing in Europe btw?

Portugal: At first I was fearing the Netherlands or France. But it turned out to be Portugal. Without a doubt the toughest team and the favourite in our group. One of the best teams in Europe and the past years always present on the big tournemants.

Serbia Montenegro: We still remember them from a year ago when they were also in our WCQ-group when we got (with a little luck) 1 on 6 against them. A team which combines technical refineness with a strong physical presence.

Poland: A team which might resembles to Belgium the most. A team with a big history, which has been struggling a bit the past few years. But nevertheless it has some good players and a very solid collective. We played them twice the past 4 years. The first time in 2003 we drew them 1-1 in Krakau (Sonck) and the second time in 2004 we won 2-0 from them in Brussel (Buffel and Soetaers).

Finland: A strong smaller team. A team with lots of talent but it had bad luck of always getting seeded in strong groups. The last time met them the game ended 4-1 (!). Out of my head I can give you the names of Forsell, Niemi (middelsboro), Tihinen, Pasanen, Varynen, Litmanen, Tanio, Hyypiä and many more. These are names that ring like a bell. A team which cannot be underestimated.

Armenia, Azerbeidjan,Kazachstan: The smaller teams in our groups. Eveyone knows how it goes when you have to make far travels to former USSR-countries. You never know the conditions and there are a lot of teams that lost points trying to break that thick wall. It will be most certain that this time there will again be big teams from our that will loose points overthere. The only thing we can do is hope that it wont be us.

Very very difficult, but not impossible. It could have been worse, but also much easier. It will be a matter of when the Vandereycken-effect kicks in. After all with proto, Kompany, Vanden Borre, Buffel, Vandenbergh,... we have a very talented group... coming up. Patience is the keyword I'm afraid :undecide:

Thanks, and good luck to you as well.

Who are the better Armenian players, apart from Manucharyan?

Good luck, wouldn't mind if you went through with us! You have a lot of youngsters coming through, will they be chucked in during the Qs?

Vandereycken already said we have a good, young team, but for the moment he seems to be mostly studying the potential players and gethering as much info as possible.

There's a while off, we of course have the WC to look forward to first but I expect out Under 21s to start getting a shot.
