Ibrahim Salou: foreigner wanting to play for Belgium part 15613213

Ibrahim Salou the 26-year Ghanian striker from Zulte Waregem will be getting his belgian passport next week. Salou has been playing in Belgium for 5 years (in which he represented Turnhout and KV Kortrijk) and has been maried with belgian wife.

The strong target-striker has been one of the revelations of the seasons and has been the undisputed leader in the (even more suprising) Zulte Waregem attack. So far this season he scored 6 goals and has been a threat for every defence in eerste klasse.

Salou hasn't represented Ghana yet on any level and expressed it would be an honour for him if he would be called up by the belgian NT.

---------------------------------------------------------

Loose from the whole moral-discussion, I do think he would be an asset for the belgian team since we dont really have any big strong strikers like him and he would be excellent to place in front of next to a Sonck, Vandenbergh or Buffel.

Other opinions?

There was a car accident. my birth mother was incinerated, and I only survived because her smoking carcass had formed a protective cocoon of slaughtered human effluence. A Belgian man and his fifteen year-old love slave were looting the accident scene, came across a blood soaked baby, moi, and they raised me to be evil."

hmm, he's not Belgian and didn't grow up here or anything...

I don't want him to play for our NT (just as I didn't want Weber, Strupar and so on)

I agree, he would be a great asset for the team. I think we need a striker like him, and would love to see him play. What other strikers can we count on for our NT? But since he is 26, by the next world cup, he would be 30. We should also look for younger players, but that is a whole other problem with the youth teams.

We need such a player and frankly I don't care where he comes from. The qquestion is whether he's good enough though. I like him a lot in the Jupiler League, but is that enough?

I also have no issues with him not being "Belgian"

It seems lately though, that being good in Jupiler league is nowhere good enough for european competition, which is to say the least, depressing.

This video only shows higlights from the jupiler league, not shameful defeats so I guesse that would've explained.

Nah, seriously I recongnised Tosin Dosumnu's goal against Anderlecht around the 3.20 minutes (the solo) and Dickson's rocket-goal against Standard around 0.55.

Furthermore I saw those ugly purple jersey's in at least 5 other goals (they conceided).

I do have an issue with foreigners playing for the NT. It just takes away the beauty of international football.

Saying this, he's welcome for me since he's married to a Belgian .

I was just reading the sport/voetbalmagazine:

Quote:
Oh dear. :irritate:
