Deschat

Hi all,

I follow the belgian NT as well as the Jupiler League, and I wonder howcome this player Desacht is a regular in the NT. I even wonder howcome he's a regular at Anderlecht.

At his position, Van der heyden, Leonard and Filip Daems are a lot better? no?

The problem is they are all sh!te one way or the other. (except maybe Daems who never got a real chance). It is true that now that Deschacht is in a bit of a slump its even worse than ever

Well Tapie actually it's kind of a funny story (oh no wait it isn't).
Deschacht is simply one of the drama's of belgian football.
This is a guy that can absolutely do nothing. If he would've been playing for Westerlo or Lierse he probably would have been going through a pretty anonymous carreer.

This guy can do absolutely nothing. His technique is below average, his defensive skills are very moderate and in offensive way he brings really nothing to the team.

Deschacht is this rich boy, that came out of the Anderlecht-reserves (where he never stood out) that was brought into their team because they had nobody else. And that's pretty much how his carreer is been going on so far.

Van Der Heyden used to be this quite skillfull attacking left-winger that Club Brugge found at Eendracht Aalst. They bought him and somebody suddenly came with this brilliant idea: "you know what? What if we just place this guy on the left-back? He's not a real defender and out of Belgium any average opposition player can show him every corner of the pitch but in the belgian league he should suffit"
Offensively Van Der Heyden can bring something to the team but defensively he ussually is very poor. If this is CM I would give him a 5 (on the score of 20) for positioning a 5 for marking and a 5 for tackling.

Daems is not always a regular for B.Munchengladbach and Leonard is a bit old and has the reputation of being a trouble-maker.

The only real solution there is IMO is lining up Van Damme. But somehow AA thought it was necesairy the past games to place Van Damme (who's a left-back and has always been one) on the midfield.

Anyway in short: Belgium is filled with foreign or simply sh*t left-backs. Descacht is very bad but simply the only sollution because he plays for a 'big' team.

"I never knew my birth parents. There was a car accident. my birth mother was incinerated, and I only survived because her smoking carcass had formed a protective cocoon of slaughtered human effluence. A Belgian man and his fifteen year-old love slave were looting the accident scene, came across a blood soaked baby, moi, and they raised me to be evil."

I'm not really impressed by Van Damme either, although as a pure LB he's probably the best of the lot. Based on the available material we should actually rather play with wingbacks anyway imo.

It's true that Van Damme is quality but I've seen him play with the youth NT as a defensive midfielder.

Deschacht is pure drama.
Even Monteyne or Evens are stronger then him.

Do you know if Yourassowsky (the belgian of Boca Junior) sign in AAGent, I heard he was on trial there??

He had a trial with AA Gent and with Club Brugge but never really impressed. No clue where he is now though.

Having a bad day do we?

Besides, the next big tournament we'll try to qualify for is EC 2008. Leonard will be what, 35 or something then? Unless your name is Maldini or Cafu you have nothing to seek there at that age.

right... and what does vanderhaege at the NT then?
and wilmots & van der elst were also pretty aged, when playing in WC98 ...
35 isn't really THAT bad, for a defender. look at van meir... (oh wait, he really was a disgrace in wc 2002 ) sorry...
