Player of the Tournament

Has to be a spanish player!

Or podolski could score a hat-trick,
or Ballack could dominate the game,
or, schweinsteiger could grab two goals and two assists.

But... apart from that has to be a spanish player!

It's too early.

It would have been David Villa, if he didn't miss most of the semi and now the final. He was a menace in every match. David Silva was great in all matches but he has only one assist to his name. Fabregas maybe if he shines in the final. If Ballack shines in the final, i see him winning it :irritate:

David Villa must have been the favorite to be voted 'player of the tournament', shame about his injury.

Senna has impressed me immensely in this tournament, definitely the unsung hero.

Ballack was outstanding in the Portugal match, another repeat performance like that, then he should be named best player.

I heard somewhere that Villa's injury was a minor one and that he most likely will appear in the final.

If that's the case, and if he performs in the final as he did up untill now.. surely, it'll be him.

I highly doubt that any of the German players can perform at a level that will overshadow Villas performance so far.

Ballack, Podolski or Lahm for Germany anyone on that left side really.

for Spain it could be a lot of players..Silva has been solid all tournament and has not done a thing wrong. Xavi and Iniesta have kept the other teams from doing anything with there ability to hold and pass the ball around. Obviously if Villa was able to play in the final and score he would get it if they won.

Do you even glory hunt?

If Torres could of put in some of his chances he might of walked away with that award. Apart from a great game in the final i dont think he can win it.

Lahm was utter crap against Turkey and was consistently losing the ball with wayward passes. Looked so uncomfortable on the ball it was fast becoming a joke.
Fair enough he scored the winning goal but upto the 90th minute, he was rubbish

I think to have a chance of being nominated Player of the tournament, consistency is the key. David Villa has been awesome in each and every match. I hope he has a chance to take some part in the final!

MAybe...but almost all of the Germans dangerous play comes from the left side. He did get skinned on that goal and might of been poor during the game but he has been involved in a lot of Germany's play and that left side is where everything is coming from. Obviously Ballack and Podolski and the platinum hair kid probably deserve it more.

Iniesta definately had the most spectacular assists in this tournament... his passes to Villa and Xavi were signs of a genius

Villa had a great campaign as well... Silva was an eyecatcher as well

Bar, the assists, he was pretty bad, he played in the second half against Russia, but everyone was amazing for Spain there. Cazorla even came on for him in nearly every match. Certainly not MVP for me.

If Silva can pull out a performance like he did in the Copa final he's MVP for me.

Do you have an explanation?

If you have nothing to say to support your opinion man.. don't say it. Because in that case, I don't give a shit about your opinion.

And what the hell am I wrong about? Villa's injury or?

Yeah Senna for me too - the foundation that all Spains good play has been able to be built on.

A few other candidates too - Cesc, Ballack, Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Villa if any of them put in a match winning performance in the final then it could go for them too. Unusual for a sub like Cesc to be considered amongst the best players of a tournament considering how he hasnt been a first choice pick most of the time, but he's had a great impact off the bench.
