This was the Russian players who won the game, not Guus. Stop being such a sheep.

Don't fool yourselves, Russia failed to take second in WC qualifiers for 2006 despite being in a relatively simple group to do so (losing out to Slovakia). This team was no better until Hiddink showed up

Nonsense. He works for the Russian FA, the Russian FA pays his (probably impressive) salary, so he is supposed to put patriottism aside and do the job he's being paid for. I'd say how he tackled this game against his fellow countrymen just proves his professionalism.

The man is a legend. South Korea, Australia, Russia, ... He picks the most unlikely teams and turns them into winners. Well to be fair the talent pool in Russia is huge, but still it takes a quality coach to make such a young team play in such an impressive way.

He's always welcome to take over Norway or Israel

Anyone who still doubts Guus knows nothing about football. The man has been winning major prizes for 20 years now and he's not even THAT old. Guus is a master at mind games, at motivating his players and in getting the team to function the way he visions it. He's a charming guy, which helps as well as he is able to successfully bring across the message to his players. Tactically he outclassed Marco van Basten tonight and the difference showed.

Of course Russia has some terrific players, but it would have never come out this way without Guus, they're now playing to their full potential and that's thanks to the old master.

32 years. Both tournaments we qualified for were held in Germany.

Anyway, Guus is accomplished at what he does. Yes.
