*Poland v Croatia* June 16th

Monday 16 June 2008
Grp B: Poland 20:45 Croatia

GROUP B (Monday) (www.euro2008.uefa.com)
Poland (1) v Croatia (6, winners), Austria (1) v Germany (3)
Croatia are confirmed group winners so will take on Turkey or the Czech Republic in Vienna on 20 June. However, Germany, Austria and Poland all have chances of earning a Basel tie against Portugal the night before. Germany, two points ahead of their rivals, need only draw with co-hosts Austria in Vienna as then Poland could not catch them on head-to-head record even if they beat Croatia in Klagenfurt. If Austria win they would go through, unless Poland defeat Croatia by a bigger margin to overtake the co-hosts' currently superior goal difference (1-2 to 1-3).

If Austria and Poland finish level in second position on points, goal difference and goals scored, they will be split on qualifying coefficients (points per game) from the 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2008™, and Poland are superior 2.167-1.500 (only Austria's World Cup results count as they did not have to qualify for this tournament).

Well Polands incentive to win the game is obviously much higher than Croatias, the question is if they have the quality to take their last chance.

R.I.P. Tazz, good times in Bim we had.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course we don't.

This is a good game to have Dario Simic earn his 99th cap. I think he deserves it though I may get some arguments over that...

We will likely rest our older players such as the Kovac bros and maybe Olic, Srna and Modric... Probably not all of them but I expect about 4 changes though I could never really tell what Bilic will do. He may change more or less.

if it was possible I'd just call up the "Croatian League All-Stars" to play this match

of course its not, but I hope they use mainly a "B" team. Leko is the only guy with a yellow I would play

Even if Croatia rest a player or two, they'll probably take this one. Bitterly disappointed with Poland once again in a major tournament except Boruc that is btw who's shown he belongs in the world top 10 goalkeepers this tournament and season too.

yep, looks like only 2-3 players from the Germany match will play. Will be interesting, some of these guys have only a couple of caps to their names

most likely for Croatia (# of caps)

Pletikosa (71)
Simic (98) - Vejic (2) - Knezevic (9) - Pranjic (13)
Leko (53) - Vukojevic (6) - Pokrivac (1) - Rakitic (9)
Klasnic (29) - Petric (25)

The standard players with yellow cards (Srna, R. Kovac, Simunic, Modric) will 100% not play. Also, Olic is most likely not going to play either off the bench

Vejic and Pokrivac I guess (at least for me) are the unheard of names. Anything to look out for in the future?

Pokrivac yeh, he is young DM from Monaco, great player. Vejic is there just to fill up that spot. If Bilic and Krizanac didn't argue he would never get called.

Pokrivac is a versitile player, did well in the Croatian league for Dinamo Zagreb and played second half of the season at Monaco. Can play left back, defensive midfield and probably left midfield, though his debut wasn't anything to write home about

And as DZG said, Vejic is the last defensive option, he is something like 30-31 years old too and plays for some mid table Russian club, but he did play well for Hajduk Split some years ago and is rumored to go to some smaller Bundesliga. Though in both his matches for the NT he played well, especially his debut where he shut down Carew
