Portugal - Czech Republic

Portugal probably along with Germany have probably so far looked like the two best sides in the first 3 days of the tournament albeit not against elite opposition but you still have to do the job and they did it well.

The Czech Republic have come off a rather fortunate win against the hosts but a win is a win and we all know what it could do to confidence. Without Rosicky and with a lesser upcoming generation at least in midfield and up front, it surely is Portugal's chance to book their place in the quarter finals or will the old wizard Karel Brückner have some tricks up his sleeves?

all to be revealed come Wednesday 18:00 CET

It'll be quite a tight game, because the Czech's remain solid off the ball and keep good shape as a team. Their lack of quality firepower means they'll have a hard time trying to beat Portugal's backline. Their best option is through Sionko on the right side against Ferreira if anything.

Hopefully Quaresma gets a run out later in the game. If not, he'll surely start against Switzerland if Portugal beat the Czech Republic.

2-0 Portugal

Is it true that if you don't use it, you lose it?

I think while Portugal started brightly, the Czech's can only get better. I still favour Portugal, but my luck will mean that they'll draw leaving the Czech's ahead of Turkey no matter what our result is

Hmm I also think Portugal is the favourite of this one. (obviously, we're far from being the superb team from 2004) Anyway I believe Brückner will make chenges in the XI and the performance will get better compared to the disappointing one against the Swiss.

On paper Portugal should win like 1-0 I think, I believe in our team though.

Should be a close one, I agree, but with Portugal ending up winning the game. If that happens we can field our reserves in the last game... and still win it

My support goes to Portugal here, one of the few teams in this tournament that actually want to play some football and not just sit back and wait for counters.

Caipirinha: 6 €
Brazilian NT shirt: 70 €
Flight to Rio de Janeiro: 400 €
Seeing Italian NT kicked out of major tournament: PRICELESS

Same starting line-up expected for Portugal, not sure if the Czechs will make any changes to try and get Koller some support up front.

Portugal XI:

Ricardo
Bosingwa - Pepe - Carvalho - Ferreira
Petit
Deco - Moutinho
<-- Ronaldo ----- Simao -->
Nuno Gomes(C)

I think Portugal will win this one. 4 years ago this would have been a great match but the Czechs without Nedved, Rosicky and Poborsky just aren't that impressive anymore. They stole their win against a unlucky Switzerland. They lack creativity on the midfield and with only Koller (who is past it me thinks) and Sionko (fast but not effective) they miss real firepower. It's a pity that Baros has lost his touch and is warming the bench. I just don't see them trouble Portugal at all but I hope they won't give in easily...
