Euro 2008 Injury Thread

So, injuries are growing for most nations, some players who were confirmed for the tournament squads have been sidelined even before they've kicked a ball. So far the list is...

Gokhan Zan (Turkey)
Servet Cetin (Turkey)
Alexander Frei (Switzerland)
Fabio Cannavaro (Italy)
Tomasz Kuszack (Poland)
Pavel Pogrebnyak (Russia)
Thierry Henry (France)
Arjen Robben (Netherlands)
Mario Melchiot (Netherlands)

Anymore?

I'm hearing Robben will be back for the second game.

While Cannavaro and Henry are the big names missing for their teams, I think the most important injuries overall are to Frei and Servet. The Swiss do not have any goal threats aside from Frei. He created a couple of chances by himself today in that first half before getting hurt. The Turks do not have a defender close to Servet's ability based on what I saw today. He was tremendous, and will be a big loss for them.

Agreed, Servet was excellent and Turkey will suffer if he can't play.

Henry missing for France is a god send for them considering his present form. (and unlike Cannavaro he doesn't step it up for the national team) An Anelka-Benzema strike force is just too scary.

I'm going to put Quaresma on this list. I know he isn't injured but knowing Scolari's hate for the player it is hard to see him getting many minutes at all. Very sad for the tournament cause he could have produced some goals/skills to remember.

Plus, Turkey asked UEFA to allow bringing few players, because of those injury problems. This is what I heard from CNN Turk, Turkish TV Station.

You'll win. You'll play to win. But whatever the result, you were always winners in my heart and champions. And you'll stay that way. GOD HELP YOU!
