Euro 2008 game ratings (No spoilers)

Thought I would start this so we could give ratings to each game.

No giving away the final scores because I figure some people like mep have to tivo lots of the games and don't have much free time. That way we can look on this thread and see if a game was worth watching or not. (for instance, I won't be watching games like Austria-Croatia etc... unless it gets good ratings.)

You can give short descriptions, just nothing that gives away the score or winning team.

Here is an example:

Switzerland vs. Czech Republic:

Score: 7
explanation: boring 1st half/ dramatic 2nd half

Portual vs. Turkey

Score: 8
explanation: attacking football

SUI-CZE ---- 5
POR-TUR ---- 7 (I would have given a 6, but because of Pepe's action I gave a 7)

I hope better games will follow.

I didnt think the Swiss game was boring at all. Some very good chances for both teams and especially Switzerland should have scored in that game, but the Czech stole it.

Yes, it wasn't as boring as many people feared but it was very poor technically and that is why there was a big difference between that game and the Portugal vs Turkey one.

Portugal - Turkey 6,5 Some good play from Portugal but certainly no classic as it was so 1 sided

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

Portugal v Turkey was more one sided though... even with 0-0 at HT, you felt Portugal had the extra level to win, but the other game was very tense and close.

The main point of this thread was for people who record the games or watch them delayed and have a limited amount of time to come in here and see if the game was worth watching. Then they can watch it knowing it will be good but not knowing who will win.

Group A Matchday 1:

Switzerland v Czech Republic - 6 - Poor match, but exciting start to second half.

Portugal v Turkey - 8 - Heart attack fest for me, good football by Portugal in glimpses, heart attack by Terim, wouldn't have it any other way, actually I would.

"It's up for grabs now!"

Austria v Croatia - 8 - Excellent game. Austria a credit as hosts and should have got some points from this. Croatia, lucky, but well, to win you need luck aswell.

Out of 10 p Probably the game wasnt technically very good, but there was drama and either drama or technical matches deserve high marks.

Come on ! Drama is when your captain and best player headbutt a random guy in the world cup final. Not a team pushing for a draw in the dying minutes by relying on long ball in the box against a team on its knees from the minute 60 and showing a great talent in time wasting.

Portugal - Turkey was ok, the other two were mediocre.

Well to win, the whole pojnt for Austria is to pump the ball into thebox because technically Croatia are clearly superior. From a host nation perspective, this game was dramatic and considering how crap Austria were supposed to be, they surprised me (not so much as I predicted this as a draw actually).
