I don't know but I think Luis has been using the one striker system for a long period and has trusted a lot in it. Generally against teams with a strong midfield he prefers to use one extra midfielder (Cesc) and relinquish a striker, whereas against less powerful midfield's he uses an extra striker. I am thinking that Luis will go for the extra midfield to counter the power of the Russians and prevent a lack of balance. But with that said he has used Torres and Villa in the training sessions together and recently started them together, so it can go either way.

I think Russia would have been better off meeting us at the end of the round matches, instead of the first match of the group. Spain always plays great the first match of a tournament. It's as the tournament progresses that the brakes come into play. I predict 2-0, possiblly even 3-0 for Spain.

4-0 Spain, our defense won't be able to handle Torres, Villa, etc. Spain's a horrible match up for us. We like to rely on our excellent technique and movement and unfortunatley Spain is superiors to us and pretty much everyone in that department.

I don't think Hiddink will go with our usual 3-5-2 (3-6-1) against Spain.

I think you might be underestimating your team and your coach a little. Hiddink knows Spanish football very well and we all know what he accomplished with S.Korea and Australia. Most people I've spoken to in Spain are scared of the Russia match because of Hiddink. The guy is capable of pulling results out of a hat. I agree that offensively Spain looks scary, but all it takes is a couple of counter attacks from Russia and we could see ourselves down a goal or two. Spain's defense is rubbish right now. Anyhow, best of luck to both teams, may the best team win.

Russia's midfield is powerful? You mean physically? Russia's entire team outside of a few central defenders is very small and their is absolutely no power in the Russian side. Russia's strengths re speed and intelligence, Romania crushed us because of how much pressure they put on our midfield.

Spain big I feel, something like 3:0 maybe 3:1. Russia doesn't scare me up front, though they are organized team with Hiddink, but eventually that's gotta end p

Despite his reputation I don't think Hiddink has brought the best out of Russia. They can perform much better than they currently do. They're good enough to play with the top teams but they don't seem to believe that they are. They need to take more initiative. If they do they can get out of this group but if they play the way they did in qualifying I don't think they'll pull it off.

Spain to win a tough game 1-0

Hiddink has definitely organized the team well, but from what I've seen their not dangerous enough in attack and seem to be almost robot like

Pogrebnyak out of the euro and with Arshavin suspended Russia will lose with Spain.....

It depends how Greece and Sweden will play but i will say Greece to finnish second in the group.

This Russian roster for the euro is a joke and Hiddink has done a piss poor work in Russia.....Slutsky for the rus nt.
