Austria is a very dangerous opponent for Croatia. It goes without saying that the host nation is tough to beat, especially in the opening match. There's been talk that Croatia might change tactics and lineup with a 4-2-3-1 since nobody has really stepped into Eduardo's shoes. I think we'll stick with a 4-4-2 though since Bilic prefers two strikers. If so, our likely lineup would be:

................Pletikosa

............Kovac.....Simunic
Corluka.............................Pranjic

............Kovac.....Modric
Srna.................................Kranjcar

................Petric
.........................Olic

Yeah after all the talk and supposed tinkering, i think we all know that thats gonna be our starting formation...which is quite sad as Olic has to be in it

if that;s the lineup, might as well not show up, as we will struggle against Austria as well

we have the better team but we have problems with strikers not scoring very often, we miss eduardo.
anyways they are the hosts, opening game for them so they will be extremely motivated and it won't be easy but if we play to our potential we should be able to win this one.

ps. no to olic

Never forgive

despite beeing an austrian and having to put up with the pathetic media that's trying to brainwash any optimism into the peoples minds every day for the past 6 months, i have not a single doubt croatia will beat this team with ease.

2-0, at least.
good luck.

yeah.
been to slovenia only once though about 15 years ago.
just across the border for a good meal and buying cheap cigarettes with my uncle.
bet you'll hear the roar over there if the team scores against se germans.
that's THE game the whole country eagerly awaits.

who are you gonna root for in the competition?
i sorta have to for austria, but since i'm half romanian i have at least a decent team aswell.

I am going by history, it's the same patern every time

watch us draw 0:0 against Austria, when we have 1000 chances and fail to score once
then we'll beat Germany 2:0, totally outplay them, but then our weak mentality will show up against Poland and lose 2:1

it's same the same thing every tournament. Beat Italy, draw France...then draw to Swiss, draw to Japan

We should get a head doctor to make the whole team believe they're the weakest pile of sh!t out there. Then, we'd go as underdogs in each game, and we'd conquer Europe.

Croatia are big favourites, Austria getting a point from that game would be a massive surprise. Even yesterday against Malta the performance was poor, imo. As long as Mifsud was playing even a draw seemed possible. Our defence is weak and will offer some golden scoring-opportunities for Croatia. If Manninger starts, he's always a liability. Midfield and strikeforce are weak as well, just like the coach, who once again failed, when he selected the final squad.

Croatia to win with at least 3 goals difference.
