Spain...

I feel for Spain, imo they play the highest quality football in Europe, incredible technical skill and approach play, hopefully they'll make it to at least the final game this time around.

You mean attacking like headless chicken and get counter-attacked like against France in WC 2006?
They could have nuked us if they weren't tactically inept...

Quality is first of all a balanced team.

There is a lot of quality in this Spanish team but they will have to show it there.

Tactical flexibility is the main thing they lack, plus they churn out too many players with similar characteristics. Also they often lack a true 'fantasista' of the level of players like Zidane or Totti.

Probably. But Spain should be thankful to Barça for producing most of these players...

Luis Aragones said many stupid things in the last 3 years, but among his many stupidities he said one truth: Spain must learn how to compete.

Quality is there and it's obvious, but unless Spain learn how to manage a game when things go wrong, I don't give them a chance.

Said all that, I am glad that Spain bet for nice football. First of all, Spain have no other option. Spain can only win something with the ball in their feet. Spain's main asset is the talented midfield. If Spain's most important players are these mids, it'd be a suicide to refuse to use them.

And, secondly, I think this is what the tradition and the fans of the Spanish football ask for.

Unfortunately this is right. We played that game with 3 straight forwards and one DM, i thought it would work personally but possibly the only thing i admire about Aragones is his commitment to attacking soccer. Like Koeman4 said, the fans will not accept anything else but personally im tired of being the pretty boys of tournaments. We need to start winning something and with this amazing pool of talented players it would be an absolute shame not to win with them.

Rodriguez, we do have that player in JC Valeron but he hasn't played in two years now :depress:

Attacking football shouldn't mean naivety. You can defend a bit deeper and still attack aggressively (especially if you've got pace), common sense really if you have the lead. What amazes me the most is that we had that snail Pablo in defence when we were defending near the halfway line. If you're going to naively stick to a one dimensional approach, at least pick the players suitable for it!

Also, too many twinkle toes means not enough battlers in the side. International football can often be a war of attrition, lasting well into extra time. If it becomes a battle and not a game, there's Puyol and Ramos you would trust to put up a fight, and who else? Exactly.

Considering the traditional urgent wish of Spanish players to leave a Major tournament after a maximum of two weeks in order to return back home despite being "favourites", I am convinced that Spain must be the most beautiful country on earth.....

Cheers

Spain plays beautiful football and I hope they do well in the Euros so I can watch them thruought. How about a Spain-Italy final.

Oh come on Jern, you know under Mclaren England had as much chance of reaching the final as much as Spain have winning EURO or any major tournament for that matter p
