Mark my words

if England qualify against Croatia on wednesday they will win or reach the final of euro 2008.

This is normally how it happens. Struggle to qualify and be great in the tournament! Its happened to Italy so often.

they will certainly be one of the biggest favourites of the tournament...on paper they have one of the best teams, if not the best.

But of course they first have to qualify...

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

under McClaren? don't be rediculous

Holland struggled to qualify when Hiddink was in charge in 98 but we had class players all over the field and a manager with a brain. England don't. It'll be a predictable 1/4 final exit once again.

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

Portugal and Sweden are in the exact same position of England right now. We all need a draw at home in the last match in order to qualify.

So, take your pick from those three on who will win the whole thing.

No way... Germany and especially Italy are still much better overall teams plus Croatia has already beaten them in the qualifying campaign, while Portugal has knocked them out of 2 straight tourney's.

Within days, all the goldfish-memoried England fans will totally forget that they've done nothing but slag off the manager and team since the loss to Russia. By the summer, they'll all be convinced England is going to win the tournament. Red-and-white flags will be hanging from every window (while the papers debate if it's PC or not). The Sun will be giving away Rooney masks (and Owen crutches, perhaps).

You're right about Sweden because they actually can even lose if Northern Ireland does not win in Spain (very likely) but I don't think England struggled more than us. The difference is that the whole media hype is concentrated in what England, Italy or France do.

Anyway, I am happy to see practically all the big European footballing nations qualified to the finals. It will be a great tournament.

Agree. Italy are winners. England just don't have the mentality to be a strong favourite.

And this England side are gutless wimps.

I just can't see England winning a major trophy under McClaren. He doesn't look a winner to me. In fact he looks a loser.

A Frenchman as English coach. Could you imagine? Houllier would probably get less stick than Domenech though. That guy is just too French for English tastes.

depends on the group, really, if they are in one of these groups of deaths then I doubt it, but watch them be in a group of: Austria, France, England, Norway or something like that

Not a chance.

Were so shit,Steve McClaren will kill all our players by blinding them with his fake smile.

By the way, the guy who laughed about the phrase explaing how we have red and white flags out of every window, that passion... believing we'll win every tournament..thats belief.

Our team may be shit, and mock us for that... but please dont mock us for things like belief and passion, its not really mocking material is it ? infact its quite pathetic to mock about things like that.

I mean, bar the host nations, England will ahve the most fans out in Austra/Switzerland.. are you going to mock us about that ?
