The Euro 2008 qualifiers are turnign out, so far, to be a vaery close a nd interesting affair.

Most groups have 4 teams fighting for the two qualifiying spots.

Why is it a surprise to see Romania 2nd in the group? (By the way we also have a game in hand compared to the Dutch)

Northern Ireland will drop out sooner or later. It will almost definently be Denmark and Spain going at it for second place in that group. Scotland will keep it close but with France, Italy, and Ukraine in that group I would find it incredibly suprising if they advanced. Plus there is plent of time till the next qualifiers so even if Spain and England are off form at the moment, there is plenty of time for that to change.

I want all the big names to be in the Euros. I like it best when there is only 1 or 2 surprise teams that are still decent. It's important that the big names get in because then I'll have a lot of matches I want to watch rather then just Italy games. Lets face it, a game of England-Germany, Spain-Portugal, or Italy-France is much more appealing to the neutrals then a Northern Ireland-Bosnia match.

The last thing I want is another Greece winning the tournament.

In the end the only British team that will have any chance to qualify is England.... as usual. I expect N.Ireland to lose all their away games and I also dont really expect Scotland to have the better head to heads in their tough battles plsu right now they have a game more than the other 3 big teams in the group and probably wont be in the top 2 after the next game.

A: Portugal, Serbia
B: France, Italy (just)
C: Turkey, Greece
D: Germany, Czech Rep.
E: Croatia, England (just)
F: Sweden, Spain
G: Netherlands, Romania

Sorry to spoil your fun Deano but I honestly think that Denmark will be there instead of Spain.

Actually I could see both teams qualifying. Sweden was on a nice winning streak but now that they lost to the Northern Irish I can see them tieing and loosing quite a few more. They aren't any better then Denmark and Certainly an in form Spanish team is superior to both.

That's a list I could see happening, Deano, though it would be nice to have a surprise qualifier. Right now though it seems Northern Ireland is the only team positioned to do that. Maybe Israel or Finland?

Good call on Finland.

I see Finland advancing out of Group A along with us. I don't see Serbia getting anything but a loss in Finland. Poland has the extra game on everybody, and still has tough away games. They will eventually fall.

Poland's going to make it!

Serbia and Finland still have to play each other twice......if they take points off each other all Poland has to do is beat Finland, Azerbaijan, Armenia away and beat belgium and kazakhstan at home and would still advance....Finland would be the toughest test, since Belgium is only on 7 points and demoralized, plus we are playing them at home.....and azerbaijan and armenia have gotten some pretty notable results at home, but if our team plays at its full capabilities i really think we can take all these nations....

the games against serbia and portugal away we could both lose in this case and it wouldnt matter.... i think these are the tough fixtures you were referring to in particular.....

but anything is still possible at this stage, and i respect all of our opponents, but i expect to move on.....cheers...

r!

Na at the minute i cant see spain qualifying, they will definatly need to improve alot, and stop diving, Torres is a dirty ****er.

The only hiccup for the Danes that i see is the trip to fortress windsor but its slap bang in between Norn Irons away games and if our run is ended in Iceland or Latvia then that game could become alot harder for us if the squad is on a low.

Although i think Northern Ireland may have a big effect on final outcome in this group. Hopefully we will have qualified by the time we play Sweden and Spain away although even at this stage i cant see it happening
