Changes to your squad

Quite a few things'll have changed since the world cup in Germany for some of us or since qualifying for the sides who didn't qualify. As not all of us'll be able to keep with every single countrys changes, state here what's happened to your countrys NT

For Holland

The major changes are

In:

Klaas Jan Huntelaar
Nigel de Jong
Stijn Schaars

Out:

Ruud van Nistelrooy
Mark van Bommel
Phillip Cocu

van Basten's continued his route of getting rid of the established players who haven't really performed to their usual high standards. Bringing in Huntelaar was only a matter of time but for tactical reasons too, it seems van Bastens chosen to dispense of Ruud as the other strikers Kuijt (is more of a team player who'll create chances for others) while Vennegoor is a huge targetman in the mould of a Jan Koller. Ruud van Nistelrooy and Huntelaar are in the same mould. Great finishers but limited when it comes to other areas, so as RVN didn't have a great last couple of months, he's been dropped for our first squad in the friendly agianst Ireland and it's likely to stay so according to van Basten

as for v Bommel, was no public secret that v Basten didn't really fancy him and after his underpar world cup, looks like van Basten's lost total confidence in him. HSV Nigel de Jong'll probably now get more of a prominent role. Energetic player who has the knack of sometimes scoring a goal from midfield. Denny Landzaat still is around too.

Cocu retired from international football and his replacement'll probably be Stijn Schaars. Good player from AZ who improved a lot last season.

Other players to look forward too in the mid to distant future'll be:

Serginho Greene - Feyenoord - CB/RB
Ismael Aisatti - PSV - AMC
Jonathan de Guzman - Feyenoord - AMC (if he chooses us over Canada)
Demy de Zeeuw - AZ - DM
Martin Stekelenberg - Ajax - GK (v Sar'll still be no 1 though)
Gijs Luirink - AZ - CB

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

Romania depends on injured players. There are too many injuries right now. I hope the things will improve when the qualifiers start, and that the key players (Mutu and Chivu) keep healthy.

Maybe this thread should be moved to this forum.

We have a Brazilian too... Dudu.... but he has been here since he was 14 and he finished Dinamos training camp and so on so we have acceptted him... good player...still Brazilian though :rollani:

We have lost the main man Dado Prso, released Bosnjak (Thank GOD) Tudor is out for 3 months ()

In occasionally or yeat to be confirmed:
Petric, Sablic, Rapaic, Pranjic, Dudu, Knezevic,

New Coach: Slaven Bilic (One of the Bronze 98 generation)

The team has gotten a lot younger and we will be stronger in the running department. We have changed the formation from 3-5-2 and will now be playing a 4-4-2 which we do not currently have the players for but will be hoping to develop them or bring new faces in that have more experience in that formation.

All in all I am excited about our new coach and the new kids we will be cheering for as they are a good bunch of young talent with a few of the older guys keeping the stability!

ZA DOM!!

The entire world finally knows what us Croatians have known all along.

Five new faces in Portugal's National Team
22.08.2006

Ricardo Rocha, Carlos Martins, Quaresma, João Moutinho and Hugo Almeida were the five surprises revealed today by Portugal's National Team coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, for the friendly match with Denmark (September 1st) and for the game with Finland (September 6th), for the qualifying stage of the Euro2008.

The presence of Ricardo Rocha, Carlos Martins (his debut), Quaresma, João Moutinho and Hugo Almeida is part of the renovation process that the Portuguese NT manager wishes to introduce in the group that will fight for the qualification for the European Championship in 2008.

Figo and Pauleta, because both withdraw from international football, Miguel, injured, Hugo Viana, Maniche and Paulo Santos, by option, were out of Scolari's choices.

List of selected players:

Goalkeepers:

Ricardo (Sporting) and Quim (Benfica).

Defenders:
Caneira (Sporting), Nuno Valente (Everton, ENG), Ricardo Costa (FC Porto), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea, ENG), Fernando Meira (Stuttgart, GER) Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea, ENG) and Ricardo Rocha (Benfica).

Midfielders:
Petit (Benfica), Deco (Barcelona, ESP), Carlos Martins (Sporting), Costinha (Atlético Madrid, ESP), João Moutinho (Sporting), Tiago (Lyon, FRA), Simão (Benfica), Quaresma (FC Porto) and Luis Boa Morte (Fulham, ENG).

Forwards:
Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, ENG), Hugo Almeida (Werder Bremen, GER), Nuno Gomes (Benfica) and Hélder Postiga (FC Porto).

Sweden need to think about the future, we should take in some young players, but it's hard as I haven't followed Allsvenskan that closely, and the few we have in Europe are already in the NT or aren't good enough. But I think Lagerbäck should take in some U21 players.

In:
Ishizaki maybe, he has been doing quite well the matches I have seen him play in.
Sebastian Larsson. He has barely played any games last season for Arsenal, but the ones I saw him in he was ok. I wouldn't use him in the start 11. But I can see him fitting in the squad.

Out:

Alexandersson
Allbäck
Lucic(don't know if he has decided to continue or quit NT)

Turkey has some new comers on the national team, midfielder Arda Turan. Youngster from Galatasaray who has really impressed this season. 2 other youngsters joining are Can Arat, a defender from Fenerbahce, and Mehmet Topuz, another midfielder, from Kayserispor.

Is it true that if you don't use it, you lose it?
