ECQ- Group B

Another group which'll kick off this Wednesday. Game that day'll be the Faroe Islands against Georgia

Looking at the group in whole, looks like it should be Italy and France to qualify but Ukraine are never to be ruled out while Scotland have improved quite a bit since the days of Berti Vogts

European Championship Qualifying : Group B Table

1 Faroe Islands 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
2 France 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
3 Georgia 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
4 Italy 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
5 Lithuania 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
6 Scotland 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
7 Ukraine 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Forza Italia! This will be tough for us. From 82 - 84 we were dreadful after the last world cup win. I am not saying we will be that bad as then, but I am pretty sure that for some time we will be off the gas a bit trying to find new stars. Hopefully the current ones have enough hunger in them to qualify us for Euro 2008.

France and Ukraine will advance. Forget Italy - they're always bad after they achieve something.

Conspiracy theories p UEFA may interfere if there is a close call at the end. But I do not expect Italy to make that far.p They will hurt themselves in a process and will need to be junked at the end.

I see Italy going through for sure, but I can see Ukraine building on a good World Cup performance and finishing ahead of France.

If Ukraine turn up like in the quarter final of the World Cup, Italy could win all the things possible and still beat Ukraine p

Anyway, I think a lot of things have changed. We havent won anything in football since 1982 so really you can not judge these players on their ability to bounce back after an international tournament victory. Most of these players are in the end world class and nowadays in football they know you can't get away with one lapse.

France is always struggling in qualifying competition and this is a tough group. It won't change this time since we have will probably have to change our tactic schema which was built on our N°10 and the best player of the last tournamentp , and we have not any playmaker anymore. We will probably have to play with a 4-4-2 with fast wingers or maybe finally a tactic to fit henry style of play.

We don't know yet exactly who will retired beside our legend, but we will probably get 3 or 4 news players in our starting line-up. So i don't expect us to get easily us out of this group really.

Its time for France to crumble ...

Remember last time they had a great team? 82 WC, 84 Euro Champs, 86 WC ... then they went into re-furbishment and in 1993 lost to Bulgaria and missed out on the WC94. Now, after 88, 2000 and 2006 WC final its time for them to do it again ... mark my word.

Italia and Ukraina to go through.

this is taken from the Regulations of this tournament...

Seeded teams
The qualifying groups will be formed with seeded teams by the UEFA administration. The reigning European champions will always be seeded. The other associations will be classified on the basis of results achieved in the qualifying competition of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, as well as their results in the qualifying competition of the 2002/04 UEFA European Football Championship.

Rankings
The total number of points obtained in the qualifying competitions of both of the aforementioned competitions will then be divided by the number of matches played. The resulting quotient is used to determine the rankings. In the case of an association that qualified automatically for the final tournaments of the competitions in question, the coefficient is calculated on the basis of its results in its most recent qualifying competition.
