Cup Winners' Cup

Can someone give me the details of Sporting's CWC run when they won it (or where i can find them)?

Dates, opponents, team line-ups, scores, venues, etc.

Thanks in advance.

We won it in 1964

Here were the results:

Preliminary Round: versus Atalanta (ITL) - lost 0-2 (a), won 3-1 (h), won 3-1 (neutral site)
First Round: versus Apoel Nicosia (Cyp) - won 16-1 (h)***, won 2-0 (a)
Quarterfinals: versus Manchester United - lost 1-4 (a), WON 5-0 (h)
Semifinals: versus Lyon - tied 0-0 (a), tied 1-1 (h), won 1-0 (neutral site)

Final: versus MTK Hungaria first leg 3-3 (tied)
Second Leg 1 - 0 won!!!

I bolded a couple of the more important games:
*The 16-1 defeat of Apoel Nicosia is (I believe) still a record for all UEFA's cup competitions.
*The defeat of Manchester United is quite possibly our club's finest hour. After getting romped 4-1 at Old Trafford, we come back to the Avalade, score 5 goals in dominating fashion, and advance on!!
*The replay of the final: After tying 3-3 in the 1st game, the replay in Brussels is a much more defensive affair. Until Morais steps up and scores directly from a corner kick to win the match!!!!! I've got a mpeg of the goal on my computer at home.

I don't remember the entire team, but here's what I think the line-up looked like:

GK: Carvalho (one of the best Portuguese keepers of all time)
D: Hillario
Alexandre Baptista
Jose Carlos
Morais
M: Fernando Mendes
Mario Lino
F: Figuerido
Osvaldo Silva
Geo
Mascarenhas

The rest of the squad: Alfredo, Augusto, Bé, David Júlio, Ferreira Pinto, Lúcio, Louro, Monteiro, Pedro Gomes e Péridis

Viva Sporting - 2001/2002 League Champions!!!

I guess they didn't have the away goals rule back otherwise they would have lost in the first round as they normally do.

Maybe that's what Sporting needs to do to be a European force again- push for the away goals rule to be abolished!

No seriously, the comeback against Man U is impressive.

I think they counted the neutral goals as away. But I dunno anything about the competitions rulings back then.
