Sporting v. Santa Clara

Sporting 2 Santa Clara 1

Subtitle: "At least we got the 3 points"

The only word to describe this game: S H I T!!!!!! This was probably one of the worst Sporting performances I have seen in 8 months. It was eerily reminiscient of that period last season when everyone was hurt, so we would keep chucking the ball up to Jardel till he scored a goal, then we would sit back and defend the lead.

My Issues:

Tactics: If Boloni is going to play 4 at the back, then go out and get a real right back. He needs to stop dicking around by putting Beto on the right. It's counterproductive for him. Secondly, why in the world didn't Rui Bento start?? Our midfield got killed on the break.

Niculae: Slowly starting to come around. He had 3 or 4 solid chances yesterday and he forced some solid saves out of Jorge Silva. I have a feeling once he's 100%, he going to just explode and score a boatload of goals.

Contreras: What a pick-up! Babb who?? Andre Cruz who???

We need to get our act together before the next game. We're away to Pacos Ferreira and that won't be an easy game. They've got a solid squad and a fantastic coach.

On a side note to Alcatraz and the rest of the Acoreanos here:

Santa Clara has a fantastic team! They deserved at least the tie yesterday. If they play every week like they did yesterday, then they could finish in the Top 10, if not a UEFA Cup slot.

The defense is solid, the midfield works extremely hard, and they have a great striker in Joao Pedro. All they are missing is another attacking midfielder.
