Injury List

Nelson - just had knee surgery this week. Will be out 3-6 weeks.

Sa Pinto - Continues to recuperate from knee surgery. a mid-September return is still planned.

Tello - Injured during training camp in Spain. Out 3-6 weeks.

Rui Jorge - pulled muscle (?). Looks day-to-day.

Paito - Injured early in camp, what I am not sure. Return indefinite.

Jardel - Sick in the head. Return unlikely.

Paulo Bento - practicing, but not 100% fit yet.

Contreras - practicing, but not 100% fit yet.

As you can see we have no healthy left backs, which could be another head-ache for the 1st Inter game. It looks right now as Rui Jorge will play, but it's not certain.

We may have to call up Hugo Valdir from the B team. He's supposed to be going with the U-19 National Team to Japan this week, but they might hold him back.

Maybe we play a three back set (3-4-3) if Rui isn't healthy?

I think the Tello injury could be costly as I see him getting some quality time now that we don't have JVP. I know Barbosa can play the spot, but I think Tello is the one who could really help us in that department. I still say his potential hasn't even been scratched with Sporting.

I am not sure how it is down in South Africa, but ESPN holds all the North American rights to the Champions League. We in the states are at their complete mercy. :depress:

However, ESPN's contract doesn't cover the qualifers, so we might be able to see this game on Sport TV. I don't expect anysort of RTPi coverage

RTP Africa like RTP1 have the rights for all Portuguese clubs.
Friends of ours pick it up , but the local club will be getting it hopefully in time and hopefully if we make it to the CL.
but for now I'm just worried about how I'm going to see the Inter game!

Dude,, TELLO is good, I think he has not got the confident to play in a big club like Sporting yet,, but he will, and when he does you'll see his talent,, Contreras is a decent player, I think he'll do good at Sporting,, just wait,,,

Tello has been one of the better players this preseason. It was very unlucky of him to get hurt because I think he would have cracked the starting line-up. This is definitely a make or break year for him.
