Sporting vs Marítimo - 2001/02 Portuguese Cup, Semi-Final

Sporting beat Maritimo 3-2 in extra time to gain a berth in the portuguese cup final!!!!

Scoring for SCP was nalitizis, andre cruz and joao pinto!!!

Yes people, Jardel did not score!!!

This game had everything from jardel missing a penalty to maritimo scoring a goal with not 1 but 2 players offside!!!!

Sporting was definitely the better team and deserved to win!!!

It was pretty much because of some sloppy defence on sporting's part!!!

Sabry managed to squeeze between 2 sporting defenders and then SCP's GK came out but sabry went around him and shot it past a sliding scp player ( pedro Barbosa) and put it in the open net!!

It was a nice effort on sabry's part because he never gave up on the play which looked like nothing to begin with!!

But Maritimo's second goal was clearly offside!!!!

If you have rtp, they might show the highlights tonight!!

I don't know where on the net you would be able to see the highlights except for maybe jumptv.com !!!!!!

I only saw the extra time and a bit of the 2nd half, and you guys were sooo lucky. And Jardel, beside not scoring, he was probably the worst player on the field tonight.

Unless he's scoring, he usually is. That's all he knows how to do. Thankfully for us, he's just so damned good at it.

How will Sporting "survive" when the goal-machine leaves?

Porto paid the price of having Jarde, i'm sure Sporting will too..
I guess i'm looking forward for that day

How about the penalty for hadball?
The ref didn't see it, but the linesman made the call.

Can you say "someone's" on your side? only for Jardel to miss

Yeah, we were lucky

Shut up if you don't know what you talking about Muzza!
First of the linesman made the wright decision on that play , the only thing he did wrong was that he never gave the 2 Maritimo players offside and the ref also missed a Pk in favour of us when one of there players took down Quaresma.
We did not play our best in the second half and we still won the game so that shows you how good we are.
Just be honest

man, how I do love to see Jardel missing penalties

Sabry's goal was very good, I mean, all the work (and luck) he did...all alone and he left behind the defenders that came his way quite easily, very good.

He didn't start, he replaced a player in the second half (about 10/15 mn on the second half), scored a good goal, played alright and received a yellow card.

I guess the goal that maritimo scored with 2 PLAYERS OFFSIDE is good officiating!!!

SCP almost lost that game because of bad officiating!!!

And besides, SCP missed the Penalty ( handball in the box)
so what are you crying about!!!

SCP won the game because they were the better team!!!
