União Leiria vs Sporting - Big Game!! - 2001/02 Portuguese League

What do you think the starting lineups will be?

This is my list of key players for this game on each team,

Uniao Leiria:

Derlei-(scoring lots of goals but not as much as his brazilian rival)

Maciel-pure skills creates lots of chances

Silas-watch out very dangerous

Nuno Valente-strong left defender

Sporting:

Mario Jardel-goal machine(porque sera?)

Joao Pinto-alot of skill and dangerous crosses from a tricky little guy(all you know my feeling about him)

Babb- a big reason also for SCP sucess looks great this year.

Cruz-any free kicks and the guy is DANGEROUS

Beto-strong at the back with Rui jorge

Hugo Viana-can create alot and open spaces

R,Qouresma-INCREDIBLE dribbling skills and can make the defence look stup;d.

It promises so far to be a great game and i think it will end in a 0-0 draw or a 1-0 SCP win on a Ricardo Qouresma goal.

what do you think?

I think your right Oporto, it will be a close game!!!

I really hope they give the new guy ( Nalitizis) a chance to see what he is like!!!!!

If jardel can find some space like he usually does scp will win 2-1!!

I also agree that phil babb has been a rock back there!!!

I hope that Ireland give him a chance!!!!

Oh, by the way, do you think derlei will be wearing an FC porto jersey next year????
HMMMMM?????

sporting loss would be nice........

I hope Jardel aint on and he is thinking about the Brazil call because if he is on it's over folks it will be like a 3-0 game SCP win..

I agree Babb deserves an Ireland call up and Oleary has said he might just do that if he keeps the form he is at now.

As for the youngsters Quaresma and Viana this game suits them and will be open so look for some flashy moves and driblles from the talented R.Q#20.

I hope it ends in a 0-0 tie(thats to me the best U.L can do)

Derlei might be sold to a spanish club if Uniao ask for too much money$ I want Maciel and rumor has it we bought Nuno Valente from Leiria.Silas was also a rumor just that.

Derlei is a threat...It will be a close game.. It's best for UL to win this one because I don't think they will have a chance to get back up... they will be 9 points down UL will be lucky to end the season at fourth.... I'm calling it

I predict a Sporting 1-0 win.

Jardel will score a PK in the 93rd minute of the match (3 mins stopage time) after a "foul" on "certain player" who will go down in the box.

Who says the refs aren't biased?

Should be a real tough game. However, I do believe Reis is half the tactician that Mourinho is. For that reason, I like our chances to take the 3 points and turn this thing into a 2-Horse Race (Sporting/Boavista).

If I am not mistaken, Leiria will be without Nuno Valente and 1 other player (Bilro, I think?). Without Valente on the field, Quaresma should have a strong game on the right wing. Also, a big game is going to be needed from Paulo Bento in order to stop Silas. He killed us in the 1st game as well.

Jardel smack talking again?about NT and spain

Nuno Valente will play it looks like so Uniao Leiria still look good for the tie 1-1 or 0-0.

I dont know about Birlo?

Uniao better double up on Jardel and good,or else we know the outcome.

3-0 at the half!!!!

Sporting started a little slow out of the gates but now they are rolling!!!

Jardel 2 goals
Quaresma 1 goal and Set up the penalty

Sporting's defence has looked shaky at times but with Leiria getting a player sent off and up by 3 goals, this will be another 3 points and back into FIRST PLACE!!!!!

Jardel is a goal MACHINE!!!! 3 more for Mr.Patato head

SCP palyed great and deserved the win and I just seen on RTPI Quaresma's goal and it was a beauty folks....SCP are one point ahead of Boavista for the league lead.Porto will be playing catching up.It looks very hard to Knock off SCP they are in great form.

Uniao Leiria bright note was SILAS goal(chapeu).

Quaresma's penalty was a clean Penalty!!!

The defender made contact and its pretty obvious from the replay!!!!!

As for the red cards, when are these players gonna learn to shut their mouths!!!!
It happens to every team!!!!

What game were you watching????

All that matters is that SCP are back in first where they belong!!!!

I don't know about controversy but the two red cards were fishy at best.

I don't think that they had much influence on the result. Sporting was already up 2-0 when the first red card was given but the second red totally destroyed what was an enjoyable game.
