Liga 15/16 J27| SPORTING 5-1 Arouca| Alvalade, 19.03.2016, 19:30 CET

SPORTING CP 5-1 Arouca
(Teo Gutiérrez 16', 45', João Mário 19', 32', Bryan Ruiz 60'; Gégé 67')

************

One more final to play in the league this time against the real surprise package of the season. Arouca is currently 5th in a position that allows qualification to the Europa League and is coming from an incredible series of 7 league matches without a loss (5W 2D). In fact the last time they lost was exactly against Sporting for the League Cup almost two months ago. Lito Vidigal is doing, again, an excellent job, just a shame that he has the tendency of entering the pitch to slap players from the opposing team and then throwing himself on the floor when bumped in the back - a curious case indeed.

We are going to this game without any of our two regular Left Backs, as Jefferson is injured and Marvin Zeegelaar is suspended. Not clear if it will be Schelotto, Esgaio or even João Pereira to do that role. We are also still missing Paulo Oliveira in the middle of our defence but Adrien is back after his ridiculous suspension and Matheus is also back in the call.

This one is on paper the hardest of the 4 home matches we still have to play but at this stage we have no other option besides winning.

Here's the list of players called by JJ:

JJ surprises everybody and decides to field Bruno César as LB. It's not the first time in BC's career that he will play in that position though.

Tactically we should look like this:

1 Rui Patrício

2 Schelotto - 13 Coates - 35 Rúben Semedo - 11 Bruno César

14 William Carvalho

17 João Mário - 23 Adrien - 20 Bryan Ruiz

9 Slimani - 19 Teo Gutiérrez

Subs: 26 Azbe Jug, 47 Ricardo Esgaio, 5 Ewerton, 6 Aquilani, 36 Carlos Mané, 60 Gelson Martins and 29 Hernán Barcos.

Coates wins the ball in the air after a great Bruno César corner from the left and Teo beats the keeper near the goal line.

Great work by Teo Gutiérrez on the left finding João Mário right outside the box and our dynamo unleashes a low shot next to post.

Great chance for the 3rd with João Mário's shot going over the crossbar after a backheeled assist by Slimani. Great Sporting so far!

Velasquez should have been sent off after a horrible tackle on Adrien. Only a yellow.

Fantastic attacking play by Sporting with Adrien raiding through Arouca's defence and letting the ball to Joao Mário who finished with a bewutiful curled shot.

Great game by Sporting so far.

Right before half time Sporting gets the 4th in a perfect copy of the first goal. Again Bruno César's corner from the left is won in the air this time by William and once again Teo is faster than the keeper and gets his brace.

What a first half by Sporting completely steam rolling over a team that at minute 13 of this game reached the mark of the longest time without conceding by any team in the current league (541 minutes). It almost looked like we left them have that moment of happiness and after that went for the kill.

Our midfield led by a stellar João Mário is completely dominating the game, helped by a great game by Teo (2 goals and 1 assist) and the support of two extremely attacking wing backs (excellent cameo by Bruno César as LB btw).

More of the same in the second please.

All the names of all Sporting players tonight are misspelled and that's on purpose. It's a campaign against fake jerseys. Witty.

Another great goal by Sporting this time with Adrien and Slimani combining on the left and the Algerian serving a golden assist to Bryan who this time did not fail.

5-0 at 60'.

Right after that JJ makes a double sub:

Barcos IN for Slimani
Aquilani IN for Adrien

Both players on the verge of suspension.
