Liga 15/16 J11| SPORTING 1-0 Belenenses| Alvalade, 30.11.2015, 20:00 CET

Primeira Liga 2015/2016

Jornada 11

Estádio José Alvalade, Lisbon,
30 November 2015, 20:00 CET

Ref: Artur Soares Dias (AF Porto)

x

SPORTING CP 1-0 Belenenses
(William Carvalho 90'+3' pen.)

************

After some great displays, and also great results, in the Cup and Europa League, we're back to the main dish. the league.

Tonight's opponent Belenenses are having a mixed season alternating some solid games with some pretty pathetic performances.

Sporting is looking increasingly better and although we will miss Jefferson and Teo due to injuries we will still field a very good XI.

Here's the starting line-up and bench:

Spectacular raid by Bryan Ruiz but unfortunately the keeper saved for a corner.

As expected, after Thursday's EL match in Moscow, Sporting looked too slow in this first half. It's true we controlled the match and were the only team interested in attacking but at this rhythm it is going to be very hard to score. Montero is looking very good in that second striker position but the lack of support by the two attacking midfielders (especially Ruiz) and by the full backs (especially Jonathan) is taking a lot of the edge that normally our attacking movements have. A second half crying for the speed of Gelson and Matheus.

Sporting pressing and creating danger in two successive plays mostly through Montero.

What a fantastic effort by Montero but the ball goes just wide off the post.

At 90'+3' we finally reach the goal after Tonel took the ball with his hand from Slimani's head "Tiago Silva style".

William doesn't miss from the spot.

1-0 and we won it!
