SPORTING CP - Estoril Praia

************

After last weekend's superb display over one of our two biggest rivals we've managed to get a 2 point lead in the league table and now it's time to work hard in order to keep it. Alvalade should be completely packed for this one so all is set for a great game. Wish I could be there!

Estoril already played with the other two big teams of our league and in both matches they lost but hey played quite well.

JJ can't count with Aquilani and Naldo (both injured) and Adrien (suspended for one match after seeing a 5th yellow this season). He also decided not to call Esgaio nor Jonathan Silva.

Here's the list of players called:

5' first chance for us with Slimani's header going a bit over the bar. Estoril had the first goal chance after only 35 secs.

Great attacking movement by Sporting finished with a dangerous shot by Gelson which went just wide.

Unbelievable offside call on Teo when he was going alone one on one with the keeper. He was at least 2 metres onside. alm:

our forwards are hesitating too much in front of goal

good attacking play, but the team seems more secure when adrien-william are in the centre and JM on the right

Gelson Martins is having a good match though.

A very difficult first half with Estoril confirming the good impressions they left when they played at Dragăo and Luz, good in defence and lethal in the counter.

Sporting controlled the game during most of these first 45' but somehow couldn't get to the final third in goal scoring opportunities more than 2 or 3 times. Unfortunately one of those times was cut by a terrible offside call by the usual suspects.

I can see Montero and Matheus changing the picture of this game in our favour, let's see if JJ thinks the same way.

A blatant handball by a Estoril defender inside the box taking the ball away from Slimani. Not called, of course. What a circus.

Teo, marginally offside, is hacked inside the box. With an immense effort, the ref calls the pen and Teo Gutiérrez himself makes 1-0 from the spot at 55'.

Another great cross by Bryan Ruiz but Slimani was a tad late for the tap in.
