Liga 14/15 J29| SPORTING 2-1 Boavista| Alvalade, 19.04.2015, 19:00 CET

Primeira Liga 2014/2015

Jornada 29

Estádio José Alvalade, Lisboa, 19.04.2015, 19:00 CET
Ref: Luís Ferreira (AF Braga)
35,197 att.

vs

SPORTING CP 2-1 Boavista
(Adrien 1', Slimani 66'; Zé Manuel 7')

We're back in Alvalade after a couple of away games this time to face Boavista who are doing a better campaign than expected, more thanks to the trouble their opponents have in adapting to their plastic pitch than to their form away from Bessa.

Nani and Cédric are back in the list of players called and both should start. Ewerton is suspended after Clown Olegário's sending off last week.

16 seconds of the game played and we are already ahead after Adrien took advantage of a clumsy attempt of clearance by one of Boavista's CBs.

At 7' Boavista equalizes through Zé Manuel through a counter. Possible offside in the build up of this goal but regardless our defense was too soft.

MS doesn't waste time and makes the first sub at 31':

Slimani IN for Rosell

No need for a DM when you're playing against 10 defenders.

On added time one Boavista player manages to escape between Jefferson and Tobias and is pushed when going alone against Patrício. Even this week in Europe we've seen refs giving yellows in these situations but it's Portugal and it's Sporting playing, so, it's a red card.

A very weak first half from Sporting. We looked sluggish and only managed to create danger twice, both times thanks to offers by Boavista's defence.

Yes, we are playing against a team managed by a guy like Petit, which means the only thing they know is to play with 10 defenders and kick the ball upfront but that is nothing new. Marco Silva tried to change things even during the first half but not much changed after Slimani came in.

The second half will not be easier as we will be playing with 10 men but at least I hope these guys start running.

Good counter by Nani at 50' with Slimani arriving slightly late to the cross.

Great goal chance at 53' with Nani's cross finding Adrien alone but his header is well saved by the keeper.

Great cross by Carrillo and the King of the Airspace doesn't miss his header. 2-1 at 65'.

Carrillo goes completely alone against the keeper and an offside is called...badly, of course.

A better second half from Sporting, doing with 10 what we couldn't do with 11 during the first half. We weren't brilliant, very far from it, but even a sub par Sporting with 10 is better than this shite Boavista who did nothing but defending.

We are now 10 points above Braga with 5 games to play which means that the wet dreams of many people will probably no longer happen.
