Liga 14/15 J4| SPORTING 1-1 Belenenses| Alvalade, 13.09.2014, 21:15 CET

Primeira Liga 2014/2015

Jornada 4

Estádio José Alvalade, 13.09.2014, 21:15 CET
Ref: Cosme Machado (AF Braga)

vs

SPORTING CP 1-1 Belenenses
(Carrillo 35'; Deyverson 28')

The league is back with an old classic derby against the "Pastéis de Belém". Some people think Marco Silva could start saving som starters having in mind the first CL match coming next week away at Maribor, but on the pre-match press conference yesterday, he seemed not to be planning to do that.

Needless to say it's a must win game after losing 4 points against fairly easy opposition in the first 3 rounds of the league.

Here is the list of players called:

Goalkeepers:
1 Rui Patrício and 22 Marcelo Boeck;

Defenders:
47 Ricardo Esgaio, 3 Maurício, 26 Paulo Oliveira, 29 Naby Sarr and 4 Jefferson;

Midfielders:
14 William Carvalho, 24 Uri Rosell, 23 Adrien, 17 Joăo Mário and 8 André Martins;

Forwards and Wingers:
18 Carrillo, 36 Carlos Mané, 77 Nani, 11 Diego Capel, 10 Fredy Montero, 19 Tanaka and 9 Slimani.

I'd like to see Montero being tested as number 10 instead of André Martins. Let's see what XI Marco will pick.

At 8' first chance with a very dangerous free-kick right outside the box but Nani shot against the wall.

Carrillo takes advantage of a bad pass in the defensive midfield of Belenenses and turns on the motor. 1-1 only 7' after their goal.

Fantastic move by Nani on the left leaving the ball on a golden plate to Slimani but the shot went just wide off the post.

Nice first half with Sporting playing well, creating danger but conceding a soft goal that avoided that we could be deservedly in front.

I'm glad Marco Silva didn't listen to the many opinions of the inumerous "treinadores de bancada" in our club (a group in which I'm obviously included), and kept André Martins in the team. He was one of our best players so far leading many of our attacking moves together with an electric Nani. Carrillo started slowly, was linked to Belém's goal but that seemed to wake him up and ended up scoring the equalizer and growing in the gameas long as the first half went on. Adrien was really below the level that he's been showing in this start of season so much that I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to give an opportunity to Joăo Mário.

Second half will start without subs in our side. Belenenses taking ages to come back from the break.

Great attacking combination with Esgaio hesitating in the last moment and losing the chance to shoot.

In two minutes two big moments in both ends:

Nani hacked right outside the box and the ref waves on.

Deyverson goes one on one against Patrício and our keeper makes a huge save.

Oh dear. Jefferson and Nani tried to take off the pitch a Belenenses player who's faking an injury on added time. The ref tells them not to do it and pushes jefferson. Our defender doesn't like it and the ref shows him a yellow which was his second.
