Liga 13/14 R7| SPORTING 4-0 Vit. Setúbal| Alvalade, 05.10.2013, 21:15 CET

Liga Portuguesa 2013/2014

Round 7

Estádio José Alvalade, 05.10.2013, 21:15 CET
Ref: Duarte Gomes
32,573 att.

vs

SPORTING CP 4-0 Vitória de Setúbal

After a very important win at Braga last weekend we are back in Alvalade hoping to maintain the good form and keep the pressure on Porto right before the visit to the corrupts' pit hole.

One of the most impressive notes of our very good start of season is the fact that we've been having refereeing our games a list of the most infamous anti-Sporting refs match after match. It started with Olegário in Faro against Olhanense, it went on with Xistra at home with Rio Ave followed by Baptista last week in Braga. Today we have another Mr Nice Guy, Duarte Gomes, the man that hates Sporting so much that he doesn't even have problems in saying it on his facebook. In spite of all this we've managed to only drop points against Rio Ave, because we didn't play well enough but also because there was a blatant penalty in our favour not called. Let's see how we deal with that handicap tonight.

Regarding the players unavailable, Diego Capel is still out injured and now unfortunately he has the company of Jefferson. It's not yet clear if Leonardo Jardim will shift Rojo from CB to LB or if he will give a first opportunity to Iván Piris, recently arrived from Roma.

Here's the list of players called:

Goalkeepers: 1 Rui Patrício and 22 Marcelo Boeck

Defenders: 41 Cédric, 3 Maurício, 5 Marcos Rojo, 15 Eric Dier, 30 Iván Piris and 35 Rúben Semedo

Midfielders: 14 William Carvalho, 23 Adrien, 8 André Martins, 10 Gérson Magrão, 21 Rinaudo, 6 Vítor, 18 Carrillo

Forwards: 28 Wilson Eduardo, 17 Fredy Montero, 9 Slimani, 25 Diogo Salomão and 36 Carlos Mané

That really looked like a back pass from a Setúbal defender to their keeper.

Some Setúbal defender makes a silly back pass to his keeper and obviously Mr Invisible was not sleeping and finished with the usual class. 1-0 at 40' 8th goal by Fredy.

Not an easy first half for us as Setúbal is defending well even if not creating any danger themselves. Apart from the goal we only had a couple of really dangerous goal chances, one by Carrillo and another by Montero, but whenever we managed to find spaces between their lines their defense shook all over the place.

Piris is showing to be a very good alternative to Jefferson combining well with Carrillo on the left. In the middle André Martins was better than Adrien. Montero is simply unbelievable managing to create danger from absolutely nothing. His goal seemed easy but how many times have we seen players missing those chances...like for example dear old RvW?

I wouldn't mind seeing Vítor coming in the second half, maybe to replace Adrien, so that hopefully we don't sit on this lead and try to get back to the top of the table with a win tonight.

Beautiful move on the left between Adrien and Carrillo with La Culebra finally finishing well one of the many nice things he can create in a game. 2-0 at 59'.

Excellent interplay between Carrillo, Adrien, Piris, who had a first goal assist in his first match for us, and Montero finishing and making his 9th goal in the league. 3-0 at 72'.

A Vitória defender takes the ball away from Maurício's head after a corner with his hand and Adrien doesn't miss from the spot. 4-0 at 75'.
