SPORTING 0-1 Marítimo at HT
In spite of having the ball for about two thirds of the time during this first half and of also having created more goal chances than our opponent, the truth is that Marítimo only needed to convert one of their two chances to be ahead on the score. Why? Because Miguel Lopes is really not that much better than Cédric in what regards defensive duties and our makeshift CBs are worth what they're worth.
Apart from those defensive weaknesses that I've just mentioned the main problem today is that the core of our midfield is in the hands of just two players (Rinaudo and Adrien) and none of them is having a good game so far. Playing against a dangerous counter-attacking side like Marítimo with so few midfielders with defensive duties was, in my opinion, too much of a risk.
Upfront Bruma is having a lively debut not showing any particular signs of nervousness. The other attacking players have been fairly OK but as long as we don't play with a second striker supporting RvW we will never create more than half a dozen chances in a whole game.
