Teams: SPORTING CP & Portugal NT
SPORTING 1-0 Feirense at HT
Total domination from Sporting even if playing at a training match rhythm. We started strong, reached the first goal early but from then on we fell in the same mistake that has been our trademark in the majority of our home games this season: instead of immediately pressing for the second and then control the game, we have tried to do that right after being ahead on the score, which is always a very risky option. The fact is that perhaps that is enough to beat this Feirense, as they are completely toothless. They made one shot during these first 45' and that came two minutes from half time from a freekick...that ended on row Q. They are clearly a second division team, which makes me even more sure of how idiotic is the idea of increasing the number of clubs playing in our first league, as it seems to be the idea of the majority of the geniuses that run our professional football clubs.
In spite of the slowness of most of our game in this first half, it was good to see Diego Capel creating chaos in their defense upfront, it was also good to see Izmailov playing in his natural number 10 position, even if he doesn't seem to be playing at 100% of his physical capacities, and also Renato Neto, who is replacing Schaars very well.
Let's hope we come with a bit more sting for the second half.
