This match is important as a win tonight means we will be able to gain access to the final of the second most important trophy of our footbal, realistically the only one we have still chances of winning. Things haven't been going our way in 2012 and the mood amongst sportinguistas is gloomy which means there are little reasons to be optimistic. We will be unable to field our two best CBs (Onyewu suspended and Rodriguez injured, as usual) and Schaars is still out. On the good side it seems that this game will mark the return to the pitches of the man that we most have been missing in the last few months, Fito Rinaudo...and how we have missed him! Rumours also say that this match will also see the debut of our new Brazilian CB Xandão who still did not play for us since he joined in the January transfer window.

This may well be our starting line-up:

Rui Patrício
João Pereira - Xandão - Polga - Insúa
Rinaudo
Matías Fernández - Elias
Izmailov - van Wolfswinkel - Carrillo

I hope we show guts, attitude and some fecking composure in front of goal. If we have these, and the ref does not incline the pitch too much against us, we can beat them.

Fito scores his first goal for Sporting and does it after 4 months injured from some 30 metres. What a lion!

Capel scored after a fantastic move by Carrillo but the goal is disallowed for an offside... that did not exist. :rollani:

Nacional 0-1 SPORTING at HT

Fantastic return by Rinaudo not only because of the great goal that is giving us the lead so far but also because of his crucial role in making our midfield, and all our overall game, function properly. He was absolutely everywhere, winning divided balls, passing quickly and efficiently, bringing to our game what was missing...since he got injured. Elias, and at times Matías and Carrillo were also very good. Good debut so far by Xandão as well. João Pereira was, as always, our weakest link.

One more note for that linesman that followed our attack in this first half. Robbed us of a clean goal, robbed us of an open goal chance. Let's see how he will behave in the second half.

At 51' first sub for us. Capel is injured. Evaldo comes in and Insúa goes up on the left flank.

And now it's unbelievable how the LB of Nacional doesn't see a yellow after a violent tackle on Carrillo.

At 63' 1-1 by Diego Barcellos out of nowhere. Polga doing his usual eye defending there.

Insúa was pushed away from the ball inside the box and van Wolfswinkel doesn't miss from the spot.

Again, if the exact narrative of these two games played out, but it was SLB instead of SCP, I have to imagine your commentary would be a bit more colorful.

Amazing move by Carrillo eating two defenders with one dribble close to the corner flag and managing a cross but RvW shot weakly.
