Teams: SPORTING CP & Portugal NT
HT Paços 1-0 SPORTING
This first half is an absolute clear example of what I expected this season to be after the huge influx, in both quantity but also quality, of players during the pre-season.
It was probably the best 45' I have seen Sporting playing in official matches this season with many new players wanting to show that they deserve their place in the starting line-up. Practically everybody played well for us, even Pereirinha, who surprisingly was a starter in the place of Izmailov.
So why are we losing? For two main reasons. Firstly because we need to be more incisive inside the box - for that I hope Domingos will not take too long to bring in a second striker, as many of the good crosses produces by our wingers ended up not having anybody at the other end; secondly, pure and simply, because of the ref.
That was not a back pass anywhere in the world and Rui Patrício did very well in grabbing the ball because not in his wildest nightmares he could think that the ref was going to call a freekick for that.
We have been robbed in 3 out of 4 games so far this season and we didn't get a 100% full service because we have boycotted the muppet appointed for the game in Aveiro. I wish I could stop talking about these motherfúckers but they just can't stop.
