Estoril 1-2 SPORTING FT
This was the first official match that Sporting played outside the domestic League and Europa League and it was in fact a complete mirror of the schizophrenic season we have had so far. The first half was our gray, soft and nervous League version, whereas the second brought our colourful, gritty and inspired European version.
Liedson, and above all Diogo Salomão were in fact decisive in this complete change of face but also the departure of the very uninspired duo Zap-Vuk. Jaime Valdés is definitely NOT a left midfielder and it is a shame that Paulo Sérgio hasn't yet noticed it. Whenever he leaves that position his performance goes clearly up and his influence in the second half was also decisive in the improvement of our game.
Estoril's good performance did not surprise me and if they keep this attitude they will not have problems in returing to the top level.
