The League is back and Sporting plays for the first time in Alvalade, against the only team that have managed to win in all the 9 matches played so far in the 09/10 Liga, Braga.

If we keep the level showed last Tuesday against Fiorentina we will easily beat Braga, if not, it will be another long night.

Here's the starting XI, which is exactly the same that started against Viola:

Rui Patrício
Pedro Silva - Daniel Carriço - Anderson Polga - André Marques
Miguel Veloso
João Moutinho (c) - Vukcevic
Matías Fernández
Hélder Postiga - Liedson

Subs:
Ricardo Batista, Tonel, Marco Caneira, Bruno Pereirinha, Rochemback, Caicedo and Yannick Djaló.

wow, Benquerença starts stealing earlier than usual. Liedson shoots, one of Braga's CBs makes a superb save with his arms in the air and nothing is given.

0-1 by Alan at 12'. Superb shot on the first shot made by Braga. Just what we needed.

Great shot by Vukcevic slightly over the crossbar.

Sporting started quite well, saw a clear penalty denied by the ref but Braga's only shot was enough to put them ahead so far.

Moisés makes a "Bruno Alves at Old Trafford style" backpass but our bad luck is such that Postiga, who was very close to get the ball, pulls a thigh muscle and is subbed immediately...by Caicedo.

0-1 HT

This first half somehow reminds me of what happened last Tuesday also during the first half against Fiorentina. Sporting started clearly better, Braga scored in their first shot, and after that Sporting maintained control of the game but never really seriously menaced Eduardo's goal.

Our tactical scheme (4x4x2 diamond), in order to really work, needs good wing backs and that unfortunately is actually where we miss a single quality player. Pedro Silva has been atrocious and André Marques only defends. It's difficult to see how PB can change this looking at the players available which leaves us in the hands of an eventual spark of genius of one of the good players we do have upfront.

Braga better than us so far in the 2nd half. Pereirinha in for P. Silva - as usual.

Sporting had now some 2 or 3 very good attacking moves and Caicedo almsot scored.

1-2 at 80' Meyong. A corner and our defense watching.

1-2 FT

A very poor game by Sporting that ended up deserving to lose. It look like unfortunately the good stuff seen against Fiorentina was an accident. Things could have been different if we would have scored from that penalty that the ref failed to see after 4 or 5 minutes but that matters very little right now.

Andre Marques made an even nicer backpass towards the end of the game.

Poor result, Sporting cannot keep dropping these games if they expect to win the league

Win the league? 9 games in all competitions so far with 1 win, and that was the first friendly against some joke 3rd division club.

Surely you must be kidding, there's more holes in this squad than the Titanic.
