Final da Taça: SPORTING 2-0 FC Porto; Jamor, 18.05.2008

Here comes the big one...Taça é Taça!

We have started the season by beating the dark forces 1-0 in the SuperCup and we have now the chance to do it again in the last game of one of the most irregular seasons that Sporting had for a long long time.

Looking at the league table and also to what happened so far this year, we are obviouly the underdogs but in the three games that we have played this season against the cheats, we had the upper hand (2 wins and a very dubious loss).

I just hope we can have just a slice of that same guts and pure will of winning that we have shown in the semi final against Benfica. And we will need it because we will be playing against 14 man.

Here is the official line-up for the game that will start in a bit more than half an hour at Estádio Nacional:

Rui Patrício

Abel - Tonel - Polga - Grimi

Miguel Veloso

João Moutinho - Izmailov

Romagnoli

Derlei - Yannick Djaló

Subs: Tiago, Ronny, Gladstone, Bruno Pereirinha, Farnerud, Vukcevic and Rodrigo Tiuí.

Let's win it for Liedson!

First 10' completely ours. Derlei could have scored already but Nuno saved well.

Now Djaló had a great volley but once again Nuno was there.

Good shot by Moutinho.

A couple of minutes ago Porto had their first and only chance so far but Rui Patrício saved very well.

Sporting scores but the linesman calls a very very doubtful offside. Need to see this one again.

Once again in the games between these two this season, we are playing much better and should be up already. Nuno has been by far the best player on the pitch. Too bad about that disallowed goal but we've all seen this story many times.

Porto had one good chance during the whole first half and their first shot was at the 26th minute, which says a lot about the way they have been forced to play.

Almost 15' of the 2nd half and the story is the same. It almost looks like we are playing home against Leixões.

I suppose that in Portugal it's OK for a CB to knock down a forward with his elbow inside the box because that's what Bruno Alves just did to Djaló.

Red card for Joao Paulo. He almost killed Joao Moutinho.

Should've been a penalty for Porto when Veloso just took down Lisandro. The one before with Polga wasn't, though.

Looks like it'll be a Sporting win.

In spite of having one more man on the pitch, we are not risking one inch.

WTF! Paulo Assuncão does a yellow card tackle on Veloso but Porto with 9 men would be too much.

0-0 FT

As usual on cup finals between these two, there will be an extra time.

We've played much better and clearly deserved a win but we didn't score when we should have. The fact that Porto is down to 10 men is actually playing on their favour as Sporting felt the pressure and Porto started to to defend better in the midfield.

I'm not sure if there will be goals in this extra time but I have a feeling we'll win this one.

Second substitution for Sporting before the ET starts: Rodrigo Tiuí in for Abel.
