PL R24: Naval 1o Maio 1-4 SPORTING; Figueira da Foz, 30.03.2008

Our chances of still managing to get to that golden 2nd place are not that big but we shouldn't give it away. In theory we have an easier set of final fixtures when compared with our direct rivals but looking at our inconsistency this season we never know what can happen.

This is definitely a must win game and anything but the 3 points is a very bad result. We will have to do without our best defender (Polga) due to suspension and Vukcevic will probably start in the bench as he again felt pain on the same shoulder that kept him away from the pitches during a few weeks.

Here is the possible starting XI for the game that will kick of at Figueira da Foz in about 45 minutes:

Rui Patrício
Abel - Tonel - Gladstone - Grimi
Miguel Veloso
João Moutinho - Izmailov
Romagnoli
Liedson - Yannick Djaló

Two chances in a row through Tonel's headers, both well saved by the keeper.

Naval 1-3 SPORTING HT

GARRA. That's what we missed in so many times this season and that's what we showed in this first half. After being undeservedly down in the score, we showed a huge heart and also great talent to turn the score around. We could even have scored more than 3 but hopefully they'll come in the 2nd half.

ah...one more thing...Liedson!

1-4 FT

Sporting controlled the 2nd half, scored one more goal and finally showed the attitude and composure that so many times were absent in our away games in the League this season. Second consecutive 4-1 in the league. Looking good.

Reencontrados e… históricos
Mário Duarte in O Jogo

***

A Estrela
Liedson - 3,5/5

Somando todas as provas, marcou 21 nesta época.

GOLEADOR
Paulo Bento agradece.
