Taça 1/8: SPORTING 2-1 Marítimo; Alvalade, 09.02.2008

The good old Taça is back with a game that brings sweet memories to me. The last time I've watched live the Cup final was in 95 when Sporting beat Marítimo 2-0 in a game that would end up being the last that Luís Figo played for us before being transfered to Barça.

It's a game that comes in a difficult period after another pale display against Belenenses followed by the usual flow of puke from the scum press that we unfortunately have to endure in our "jardim à beira-mar plantado".

Marítimo is having a good season and they are coached by Lazaroni, an experienced old fox, so it will not be an easy game. In any case I believe we will beat them and go on defending the trophy that we won last season.

Here is the list of players called by Paulo Bento:

Goalkeepers: Rui Patrício and Stojkovic.

Defenders: Abel, Tonel, Polga, Ronny and Grimi.

Midfielders: Miguel Veloso, Adrien, Pereirinha, Farnerud, João Moutinho, Celsinho and Romagnoli.

Forwards: Vukcevic, Liedson, Purovic and Rodrigo Tiuí.

Reports say that Leandro Grimi, the new left-back that came on loan from AC Milan, may have his first game for us, replacing Ronny and also Rodrigo Tiuí may have a chance to start his first game for us.

The game will kick-off tonight at 21h45 CET

Now Liedson sees a yellow because some clown madeirense decides to fall when he passes by. Nice one Bruno Paixão.

Adrien is replaced by Miguel Veloso at 30'.

It's a shame because the kid was playing really well but had to be subbed due to have been kicked by a f da p from Marítimo.

O Levezinho may not score very much in the League so far but he is unstoppable in all the other 3 competitions where we are involved this season.

2-1 HT

Until the moment that Adrien was kicked out of the game by some s.o.b. we were showing some of the best football I've seen us playing this season and in spite of their goal we showed enough composure to get back in front.

Acertar atitude sabendo sofrer
by Mário Duarte in O Jogo

***

A Estrela
Grimi - 3,5/5

Estreia promissora do jovem lateral argentino.
