OMT: Pinhalnovense 0-6 SPORTING; Lavradio, 10.02.07 - 1/8 Finals, Portuguese Cup

A Taça is back with Sporting facing this time a club from the same league of the mighty Atlético that kicked Porto out of the tournament as early as the last 64.

CD Pinhalnovense is currently 6th on Serie D of 2nd Division. They have made 22 points in 15 games scoring 20 goals and conceding 15.

The game will take place in the historical Estádio Alfredo da Silva at Lavradio, Barreiro where the once mighty CUF (now Fabril do Barreiro) used to play.

Paulo Bento called the following players for a game that we obviously have the obligation of winning:

Goalkeepers: Ricardo and Tiago.

Defenders: Marco Caneira, Miguel Garcia, Anderson Polga, Ronny and Tonel.

Midfielders: Custódio, Bruno Pereirinha, Miguel Veloso, Joăo Moutinho, Carlos Martins, Romagnoli and Nani.

Forwards: Liedson, Bueno, Alecsandro and Yannick Djaló.

Sporting gives up their part of the ticket sales in the Cup game at the sold out stadium of the old CUF
by Irene Palma
Translated from MaisFutebol
08.02.2007

Pinhalnovense hosts Sporting on a loaned stadium, this Saturday, at 14h30 (local time), on the 1/8 Finals of Taça de Portugal. On the agreement between the two clubs it was decided that the stage for the game will be Estádio Alfredo da Silva, now owned by Fabril, once from Quimigal and CUF, and the Lions gave up of their part on the ticket sales of the match.

At the moment it seems that 20,000 tickets have already been sold for the game, on a stadium that holds a maximum capacity of 21,600. It is expected that the old CUF stadium will be sold out.

Sporting requested only 5,500 tickets, will not receive any sum from the ticket sales of this match and will play on a natural grass pitch, as it was the wish of the Lions. Pinhalnovense will keep 60% and FPF will keep 40% of the ticket sales.

No time for translation or to my own comments, so here is the usually quite balanced and accurate match report from O Jogo...

Golear com... tranquilidade
by Jean-Paul Lares in Ojogo
11.02.2007
