Pedro Barbosa, a true champion and honourable player, is being shown the door by Sporting CP, after 10 years of having been an important player for the club, these days.

Wow....they could have offered him a job coaching or something, he would definitely be a plus to have helping out with the youth system.

They were going to offer him a position, but Barbosa made the decision to cut ties at this point.

Sad to see him move on. I personally thought he still had tons of stamina in him for his age. Bad move by Sporting, IMO. But sometimes, that's how it is.

He said he did that because he didn't like the way Sporting is being run. Honestly, he's right. Dias da Cunha is total crap. Not to mention he's a bloody clown. Walking arm on arm with Vieira... I mean, common, dude, get a grip on yourself.

Miguel Ribeiro Telles for President!

I totally understand Barbosa's reasons and would be pretty damn pissed if I was a Sportinguista seeing him leave the club for those (as you so matchingly called one of them, Marta) clowns. Though I am Benfiquista Barbosa always used to be one of my fav. players in Portugal, lone for the spirit he offered and the loyalty he became famous for. I'm sure he will return to Sporting one day.

So who did Sporting sign so far ?

They must sign a couple of reliable central defenders because their defence sucks.

Manoel *facepalm*, Edson and some brazilian guy called Marcelo Labarthe. But there have been a lot of rumours about Zé Castro (Académica).

Honestly, Carlos Freitas should never have left. I have said it many times and I will say it again: Dias da Cunha is a joke and he should *not* be Sporting's president.

Really? Only heard about it yesterday through Record.

I actually don't think the problem is our defenders. It's how they work together and as a team that completely ruins it all.

Only noticed your post today. Because he was the only goddamn person who had the balls to quit because of that agreement with Benfica being a piece of shit.

What do you mean the home is usual?

The only thing that's the same is the emblem, the reebok symbol, the PT in multicolor which still looks dreadful, and the fact that it has green/white stripes. The collar is changed from last year, the stripes are bigger, they got rid of the little slick curving of the lines at the shoulder and added the evolutions of the emblem.

Well, I must confess that I don't use to study the Sporting shirt season by season but for me it just optically makes no big difference to last years. The away-shirt however is in typical centenary-style ... If I was a Sportinguista I'd go for it ... but I've got my centenary shirt since 2004 already

Oh to the colour, I have to admit, I have such rare illness with mine eyes. I cannot tell green from brown or dark red (no joke, this is true)

Benfica's centenary home wasn't that great. The away was excellent, but I hated the collar of the home jersey it looked ridiculous. There was no reason for the white spot to be there trying to pass off as a fake collar or something to that extent.
