The big adventure starts tomorrow with the draw of the group stage and now its time to look at our possible opponents.
Dividing them in three levels of starters this is what one might get:

Pot 1:

LOBSTERS:
FC Barcelona (ESP)
Internazionale Milan (ITA)
AC Milan (ITA)
Real Madrid (ESP)

SHRIMPS:
Manchester United FC (ENG), 100.950
Liverpool FC (ENG), 105.950
Arsenal FC (ENG), 101.950

OYSTERS:
Valencia CF (ESP), 95.006 -> My wish for Sporting

Although they are all very tough teams to face I feel that Valencia is one step behind the EPL trio so that's why I would prefer to play them.

Pot 2:

LOBSTERS:
Chelsea FC (ENG)

SHRIMPS:
Olympique Lyon (FRA)
Bayern Munique (GER)

OYSTERS:
PSV Eindhoven (HOL)
AS Roma (ITA)
Celtic Glasgow (SCO)
Lille OSC (FRA) -> My wish for Sporting

There is a huge difference from the huge blue lobster of Southwest London and the tricky oyster from Northeast France. Although we do not have good memories of facing French clubs I wouldn't mind getting Lille although it wouldn't be bad either to kick some Cú-man ass again

Pot 4:

LOBSTERS:
Hamburg SV (GER)

SHRIMPS:
Dynamo Kiev (UKR)
Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)
Spartak Moscow (RUS)

OYSTERS:
Levski Sofia (BUL)
Galatasaray (TUR)
FC Copenhaguen (DEN)
RSC Anderlecht (BEL) -> My wish for Sporting

The current level of Belgian football is far from good which makes me wish facing Anderlecht even more than the Danish surprise package of FCK.

Tomorrow we will see what will be the real menu.

Spartak must be the weakest team in pot four,i know what i am talking,Shakhtar is not too well also.....

Hamburg,Dynamo kyiv and Galatasaray are the best teams of pot four.

First game for Sporting,kyiv,12 sep.p

thanks for your far eastern knowledge kleb

Even so I much rather want to see us going to Brussels in December than to Moscow or Donetsk

although personally the ideal would be Copenhaguen as it is just 4 hours on the train from here

And Filipe no matter what team you will draw every away game will be difficult.

Tough luck, my lizzard friends.

Inter Milão
Bayern Munich
Spartak Moscow

I guess 3rd place and UEFA Cup are a legitimate aspiration. Anything more than that is a surprise but let's wait and see. Surprises happen often.

Good luck.

As always Sporting got the hardest of the three groups involving Portuguese clubs. In any case one only knows if a draw is good or bad after the games take place so let's keep positive about it and be hopeful that the young lions can make our club proud!

Thanks Gein Good luck for the lamps too.

I think you have clear chances of qualifying directly although I have the feeling that Man Utd is much stronger than last season and FCK is not as easy as one might think.

I'm not happy with facing them even if you claim that they were the weakest team on pot 4. Russian football is always very hard to face for Portuguese teams as it is German and Italian.

If Sporting does better than last place in this group I will be quite happy.
