Joăo Moutinho

How is this kid progressing?

I have heard that Queiroz has been present at some Sporting Lisbon matches over christmas.

He might come to us over January, in a similar deal to when we signed Cristiano.

Too early for Moutinho imo. Worked out for Ronaldo but he only has to look at Viana, Quaresma and Simao for examples of Portuguese players going abroard too young. It took Boamorte years to start producing in England too.

He should stay in Sporting for the next couple of years, then sign for Man U if the working relationship is still in place.

Yes, you are right and hopefully he will not leave after 2 years. Sporting has consistently lost our young players too early and that has to stop sometime...

Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Quaresma, Simăo, Hugo Viana, Luís Boa Morte...what do they all have in common?

That teams had to buy them from you because they figured if they didn't you'd just sell them to someone else anyway?

Add Hugo Leal to the list of people, he's probably the worst actually. Going abroard young totally ruined his career.

No, it's not as easy as you put it but I think that UEFA is going in the right direction concerning the numbers of home grown players. In a not so long future, rich teams will have to start investing more in their youth academies and less in sucking like leaches the work of others.

Hugo Leal is no doubt a much worst player than any of those that I mentioned...probably because he was not formed in Sporting but in Benfica!

hugo leal had a chickens brain :rollani: he had a huge potential and had it all to develop and become a good player, but noooo, he got too cocky, thought he was the next maradona and got into an idiotic fight with the club in order to move abroad, he was too good for us lol idiot :rollani:
...he was only 18, and naturally ended up ruining his career....

moutinho seems mature enough to handle the media hype and take it easy, and tbh most of the time he looks like sportings most mature player on the pitch

Queiroz is at Old Trafford and his track record of working with Portuguese youngsters is second to none.

People like Rui Costa and Luis Figo can confirm that.
