Anderson Polga

Polga's agent, Gilmar Veloz, is yet in Lisbon to discuss terms with Benfica. The 23 year-old centreback from Gręmio Porto Alegre (now injured for a month and a half in México - Brasil match where he started) already said Benfica is a fabulous club to play and he would enjoy to sign (he will be out of contract in July). Besides Camacho hasn't said if he (Camacho) will stay, he already said Polga is an interesting player and that Benfica could go forward to his signing (to anyone who had doubts of Camacho stay this should answer). It's told that there is a better offer from an Italian club.

Polga's injury is a knee one in the lateral ligament and doesn't need to have surgery. He will be back by July. Anyway, AS Roma may also be interested in him and the basic wage and signing fee to give must be very good to sign Polga.

I confess I don't have an accurate opinion about him. When Benfica and Sporting were after him in December/January I watched one or two matches of him and he seemed to be a player with good feet, I don't know much more about him.

Polga is a good and versatile player. He can play as central defender, sweeper or defensive mid - useful for any manager - has good passing and positioning, and reads the game well. Not a genius, but certainly an interesting player if you need to organize the defense, as he adapts to new situations with apparent ease, even during matches.

Seems that Roma is not interested anymore because he was a chance to replace Samuel who could go to Real Madrid. Samuel won't go anymore, so Polga very difficultly go to Roma.

I heard Polga rejected them anyway?

As no other clubs appear to be after the defender, do we have any idea when he might discuss a transfer with the club?
