Guttman to start coaching NT in February!

IFA said that Guttman is ready to coach the NT in February. They were hoping for may switch, but they want to do it sooner.

On Feb 29th Israel takes on Ukraine in a friendly. Hopefully more friendlies will show up in our radar between now and September 2012.

All i can say is this..........
If Guttman fails to win us 4 points against russia.........and ATLEAST a point against Portugal........he can go $$#@$($($(@ himself

Are you sure IFA confirmed this?

I didn`t read this in the media.

But anyways, I just hope IFA decide fast who will be the coach in order to have a decent preparation for the qualifiers.

Maccabi was right, but the way they did it was wrong.

Maor and especially his father are the main people to blame for his failure, they focus more in media interviews and polemical phrases then the real issue which is playing football.

So now as antecipated by most of the media vehicles Eli Gutman has agreed terms with IFA and will be the next Israel coach.

The curious issue is that Gutman agreed to coach without receiving money until May since Luis Fernandez is under contract until that month and IFA doesn`t want to pay the French a dismissal clause.
Probably this was the issue that IFA didn`t announce Gutman previously as the coach.

In February, Israel has a friendly match against Ukraine and Gutman is expected to be on the sidelines.

Nir Klinger is expected to be his assistant coach.

IMO, a good staff with Gutman and Klinger, both very good coaches with good tactical knowledge.

Too bad we got a tough group which will be very tough to qualify.

First obstacle for Eli Gutman since Nir Klinger who was almost set to be his assistant coach at the NT, chose to accept an offer from Cyprus at Paralimni.
Gutman will now have to search for another assistant, another possible candidate was Yossi Abuksis, but the latter didn`t show too much interest in leaving Bnei Yehuda.

If you're Guttman, do you want a guy like that as your assistant? Would he be trying to make you successful, or angling for your job?

Berkovic is a case apart.

From the players I saw in Israeli football Eyal Berkovic is for me the best of all. The most gifted player with a game vision and passing close to those of top teams (if he wasn`t Israeli certainly people in Europe would have given him much more credit).

He understands the game and has a great reading, plus he had passion playing for Israel and maybe that is what we need a bit. Maybe he wouldn`t be the coach, but a type of what Maradona was for Argentina in the last World Cup.

But I agree that he wouldn`t work with Gutman. Completely different styles and Berkovic has a really hard temper (one of the things that IMO ruined his elevation for bigger teams in England) and controversial attitudes.

I am satisfied with Gutman in the NT, I guess he was the best option we had and he is a very competent coach of serious working.

I still think we should have given Shum a chance too!

I think if you let Berkovic be an assistant than he wouldnt bad mouth and would take blame/appreciation if we do good

Giovanni Rosso said today that he will once again join Eli Gutman, this time as Israel´s NT scout.

Rosso who was brought from Hajduk Split in 1995 as a player to Hapoel Beer Sheva, then coached by Eli Gutman. The coach was made clear that he admired Rosso and always when he had the possibilities he brought the player with him. It was like this from Beer Sheva to Hapoel Haifa and later to Beitar Jerusalem.

Gutman told Rosso that if he coached the NT he would like to have him working with him.
And Rosso said that this is also one of the reasons he didn`t join Avram Grant at Partizan.

What do you guys think it?

He certainly does have good ties and a good relationship with Gutman which is very important. This means we are on our way to have an united staff. This is very important before everything.

I was hoping that Guttman can scout talent by himself......its not like he is a foreign coach who knows tactics...he knows the leauge well...
Calling Rosso a scout is very silly..... he is more like an advisor...or advocate....a devils advocate to be exact

I just dont want to see the same screw up that happened last time. Playing being benched... those who play upfront get sided in the back.... a poor defensive showing...
we need to work things out this time!

Rosso would be more an opponent observer and maybe to observe players when Gutman can`t by any reason travel.

Gutman has a good way to work, he is taking the right steps IMO. Hopefully we could continue that way. We got good friendlies ahead of us, Ukraine, Germany and Hungary are good tests for Israel.

Can you guys believe this??

That is why we don`t qualify, take a look on this news.

When Gutman signed the contract with the NT he didn`t sign on paper that he could choose his assistant coach meaning that the IFA will decide on this issue.
Gutman wanted Yossi Abuksis as his assistant when the latter finishes his season with Bnei Yehuda, but Avi Luzon (IFA chairman) and his family (his nephew Guy Luzon coached Hapoel Tel Aviv for a brief spell and had a bad relationship with Abuksis in which Luzon says it was one of the reasons he wasn`t successful at the club) gives a veto on Abuksis meaning that before even starting a campaign there are already internal fights.

Let´s see what will happen on this issue, the final decision will be in May and I really hope these things stop happening with us. Let´s focus on our team come on!! To the field!
